I got to perform a recovery of my friends Kia Sorento while we are on vacation in North Georgia.

Our two cars were supposed to take half our group to a zip-lining adventure and when I left I got the call over our GMRS radios that he got stuck and couldn't get out. Turned out he tried to do a U-Turn to get out of the driveway and started sliding down the hill our AirB&B was on. We tried a quick recovery with a shovel and traction boards but the tires just were not biting so we chocked the wheels and piled all 6 in the bronco sport and decided to properly recovery it later.

After the zip-lining and lunch with the rest of our group three of us returned to the house to unstick the Sorento. I had decided that if the Kia had steel or iron A-arms we would recover it with kinetic rope otherwise we were going to use hand winch attached to a tree and wrapped around one of his rims to recover it.

Luckily the A-arms were steel or iron so I gave him the instructions of "no brakes, no gas till after you feel the bump and don't run over the rope after we start moving"

I had a hitch mount D-ring soft shackled to my kinetic rope and soft shackled around his passenger A-arm (all recovery gear I have stored in my roof boxes) pulled the line out to extension, reversed a small amount, have the signal and jumped on the gas, bumped at just over 6mph and pulled him clear up to traction on the first pull.

Nothing particularly dangerous, but stuck enough that traction boards and shovels were not doing the trick so I got to feel less like a prepper today carrying around that gear.

Didn't think to take pictures before but here is a snap from when it was back on traction.

Update: Illuminated Keyless Entry Keypad was installed by the dealer yesterday. Unfortunately, the dealer somehow left a 1 inch gouge in my front bumper area by the headlights that is painted and it even went through my PPF. The service advisor said the tech hit a screwdrive somehow. They say they are going to fix it and will call me on Monday to get it to the body shop, etc. I'm pretty pissed. Will see what they say Monday.

Not just today but a compendium of the last few weeks. However, we are taking the dogs and doing a roadtrip to Leadville today (about 2 hrs away).

Replaced factory Pirelli Scorpions with Falken Wildpeak AT Trails
Oil change 1000miles, full synthetic
Ceramic Tints all around (except windshield)
Front PPF
Front and Rear dashcam install (Blackvue 970x)
Installation of Redline Hood Struts
Installation of Thule Evo Wingbars
Installation of Rear Bumper Protector
Installation of Black Platinum Door Sill Plates

Upcoming:

Going to dealer for installation of the Illuminated Keyless Entry Keypad since it was a DIO that wasn't installed so I bought it afterwards

One of the things that bugged me a bit was that Ford chose to equip my Badlands with LED lighting everywhere BUT the taillight turn signals, brake lights, and backup lights. So today I took care of that and changed out the bulbs with LEDs:

For those are interested, the LED Bulb types you'll need are as follows:

Turn - 921 Amber
Brake - 3157 Red
Backup - 7443 White

Installation was a snap. Changing out the bulbs is well documented in the owner's manual but all you need is a 10mm nut driver or socket wrench. Always be careful when working the housing tabs off of the studs (you REALLY don't want to break one of those) but the whole change-out took me less than 15 minutes.

I used bulbs from Diode Dynamics (www.diodedynamics.com) as they are an American based company and the quality of their products as well as customer support are outstanding (3 year warranty, but I've had them in my Fiesta ST for nearly 6 years now without a failure). But for those on a budget there are admittedly less expensive options out there.

While it's hard to see in the daylight pic, the backup LEDs are probably the biggest improvement in the cars I've put them in, with a noticeably brighter and whiter light than stock.
Bought Tilli used (fresh off a 4 year lease) and a week later a brake light went out. I too was surprised that they weren't LEDs and swapped them all for LEDs as well.

When I was changing them, I discovered that the cover hiding the fasteners for the captain's side had a broken lower tab so, I'm guessing I'm not the first one in here. $63 (for the new cover) later the job was complete

Installed molly brackets for the rear quarter windows from HRG. One would think at that price point, they would have provided better mounting hardware. I did not use the self tapping screws that came with the kit, I opted nutserts, button head 1/4 20s, flat washers and lock washers. FYI, the top 2 mounting holes only go into the headliner, basically just decoration.

Installed a Rough Country 1.5 lift kit and 245/65R 17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires on 17x7.5 Alp wheels from Tire Rack. What a difference!! I never noticed the body roll Tilli had(key word had) Ride is nice and firm, road noise from the tires minimal. HIGHLY recommended this setup

Today our 2021 BS BB was undercoated for winter, and a 2nd ceramic coat applied. We should be able to go 4 years now with this 2nd ceramic coat.
We'll change out the Vredestein for our Blizzaks early next month.
Taking care of it so that it takes care of us.

Installed the rest of the Yucca roof rack today. Original shipment was missing the 2 rear side panels. Ordered on 08/18, delivered on 10/09, missing panels delivered 10/16. All that to say, when you order be patient. They were awesome to work with and the build quality is absolutely phenomenal. 10/10 would recommend even with the wait time. Also it can definitely be installed with one person. I put cardboard on the roof to protect the paint and set it down from the side of the vehicle than positioned the foot brackets.
