I have lost faith...
I'm starting to think Ford is offering/selling things they cannot deliver in a reasonable amount of time. Ford advertises all the options and features and makes nary a mention that to get those will take 6 months. They leave the dirty work to the dealers on that front, and they aren't great at honesty sometimes.

I'll be by my dealership this morning for an appointment, so I may stop in and offer to slaughter a goat and read the entrails to try to discern something about what to expect.

Dude it hasn’t even been a month. Lower your expectations. I did
My expectations are low, but so is my understanding. The torture is from the ignorance, not the wait. Well, the wait, too, but mostly being in the dark about the process.

I went in expecting by mid August I'd have it, then my salesman gave me false hope, now he has to deal with me dealing with false hope.

The main thing I want to learn today is where the region sits in the distribution mix and where the dealership sits within the region. I assume with constraints the way they are that "priority scheduling" and "incremental allocation" are useless concepts. They are building what limited amount they can for retail orders with constraints and filling up the production line with dealer stock orders of lower trims with less options. I assume (without solid data to back it up) that the zone managers/regional schedulers are really calling the ball on what gets built and when--barring constraints. The process is a little less opaque after a couple of weeks of digging around for information, but I still can't really tell where I'm at in it. Also, when I see dealer stock orders getting those very items that are constraining retail orders I'm curious as to why Ford (or the mindless system in place) selects to build lot lizards instead of sold units.

well, I think some how the ordering process appeared to be "custom" orders....but it is far from that.

A "custom order", perhaps to many people, means when the manufacturer receive the request, they will find the parts that is necessary to build it and put it next in line for assembly.

The order here is that once they receive the request, based on options selected, they separate it in different "pools" of orders/planned production logistics (including retail and dealer stock...and whatever they normally produce), these different pool of cars may also separate by region?? perhaps it is due to shipping logistics (like they wont' ship ONE car to a dealer region that has no other shipment) or they try to distribute by some sort pre determined volume by % (doesn't matter if it is retail or stock order)......etc.

so, it is a "customer order" they will build and ship at their logistic convenient.

Their logistics system was not designed to be transparent which we are hoping for. like what parts is missing/shortage so we can chose what we can live without to move a build date up or down.....that, probably will need $$$$ spent on logistics software and reorganize the productions. of course, with the parts shortage, and parts doesn't show up as scheduled/contracted......it does not help the overall logistics....

so, it will just come.....when it comes.....

I am so jealous that you ordered a few weeks ago and are scheduled and i ordered 8 weeks ago and radio silence.

Did you get all the packages? Those seem to be a continuing problem.
Long McArthur said this week they are out of BL Premium package, Assist+, and Moonroofs. He mentioned there was a queue of customer orders without any of those options being scheduled.
