I’m having a transmission shudder at 30-40mph and again at 50-60mph. They replaced the torque converter, it took 2 1/2 months to get the part. They said it was all fixed but the shudder is still there. Anyone else had this problem and what did they do to fix it?

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I have been researching this issue too. I purchased a 2021 Bronco Sport a couple of months ago. From what I have experienced, the shudder is at the low rpm of the motor ( 1500 rpm and under ). I have heard or read that an update is coming in another thread. I am not sure if that is true or not. My dealer knew of the shudder and said it was typical for the 1.5 motor and transmission. I am not comfortable with it either. It acts as if it's going to stall. As a side note, a recall was announced yesterday associated with losing power and the vehicle's ability to restart. I am not sure if this issue is related.

What year? What engine? How many miles? Who decided it was caused by the TC and who replaced it?
2022, not sure where to find the engine size, 17000 miles., work done at the dealership. Said there was debri in the transmission fluid so he changed it did not change the filter. I’m guessing the filter is clogged and needs replacing but how do I get Ford to agree to it?

Mine shudders at low speeds and has done it since new, 58k miles now. It’s never really concerned me because I believe it’s just the transmission upshifting as much as possible to conserve fuel but causes engine lugging. When I’m stuck in heavy traffic I switch to sport mode which tends to alleviate the problem. Installing larger heavier tires also helped.

You have the Outerbanks model, it has the 1.5L engine

For good background information regarding transmission servicing, please read this thread especially the comments by FB71.

I had a 22 OBX & experienced this as well. Especially in stop/go traffic or parking lots at low speed. it was explained to me that it was the variable cylinder management system dropping one cylinder under low power requirement. It could be eliminated by selecting SPORT mode. That however does make the throttle a tad more “responsive”.
TBH, it drove me nuts. That was the one thing I really disliked about the BS.
Traded it after a year & 7k miles. I could not find a “tuner” that could eliminate or turn it off. I’m not proficient with forscan.
i do not believe Ford is going to fix it.
Good luck.

Mine neither. I hate these posts that state something is "typical" or "common". Fake news. A cop out.
In this case, he mentioned that the dealer made the statement. I dislike that as well. Seems like a cop out from the dealer to me. I'd be looking for another dealership, but as some have mentioned, second dealerships can be further away, creating a longer trip to get serviced.

Hope that is not the case here.

What are your implying?
I don't think jkeaton was directing that at you personally, but rather to the dealership using a cop out because they are not sure how to diagnose the fault, so it's easier to state what they did to you.
