I did mine at 39k after starting to see posts about transmission failures at 75-90k. My tech told me the fluid was pretty well spent already. The topic has been beat to death a few times now... But the 100k trans fluid interval that Ford advertises is a joke.

It's not 100K, it's 150K under normal ops, with 30K inspections, and 30K for severe duty. All this is covered in the owner's manual.

I’m almost at 30k miles. Going to do an oil change soon. I’ve done a few thousand miles of off roading and with the Phoenix gear coming up, I’ll ask them what they recommend and charge.

I’ll check out the links provided. Given costs of car maintenance I’m getting more into doing things myself. If it’s a drain and refill, sounds like I could do that.

oh and your in the US so that's probably like 250 to 300 here.. I know in my truck they want 900 bucks to drop the pan, flush and change the filter.. all they are doing is draining a bit and re-topping it off, but it is a pain to do from what the mechanic was telling me.

anyone from Canada have a ford price quote for the trans drain and fill?
From my Tilbury ON dealer on March 25 2025: "The transmission fluid change cost is about $350.00+taxes. (~ usd 244.+). The transmission fluid change is recommended at 100,000 km (~ 62,500 miles); spark plugs are recommended at 160,000kms (100,000 miles)".

Next time ask for a drain as pointed out earlier: “Flushing the 8F35 transmission is not recommended. Do a drain and fill or back to back drain and fill.”
From my understanding, the dealerships only do a flush, not a drain and fill. I had mine done at 35k and they charged me $280 and man the shifts are much smoother. I am not a big fan of flushing transmissions at all but would be curious to know where it says that a flush is not recommended for this transmission especially considering the dealerships are performing flushes. Either way, next I will do my own service now that I have nice scan tool and can read the transmission temps to be able to perform the service.

So you’re saying the dealership did a flush with the existing dirty fluid and never drained and filled it with clean fluid? If they did actually flush it, where did they connect the flushing machine?

I know on mine they drained it, filled and flushed with new oil, then drained it again and refilled. On my bill they listed 16qts of fluid.

That makes sense, I did 2 drains and refills at 35k. The original factory fluid was black, and after the first drain and fill, taking it for a drive, the fluid was clear purple. After the second drain and fill the fluid was bright red. Yeah, it’s a lot of fluid expense, but worth the effort. I’ll do the same thing every 30k miles.

weird here in BC, the service schedule says 50000km for trans drain and fill. they can do it every 25000km if they want it is included in my service plan, but I was just wondering how much the normal charge is in Canada. the more things I get done the more I am liking this service plan, I thought it was expensive at first but in the long run it is going to save me money.

Have no idea about their process or where they connect the equipment, all I know is they state it as a flush, not a simple drain/fill. I have never been a fan of transmission flushes, moving forward I will do a simple drain and fill.

I don't think flushes are bad if they are done right. A trans shop out where I am does their flushes by letting the trans oil pump do the work, when they have the pan off they hook tubes up to the trans pump inlet and the return to the pan and let my truck do the flush. I think it is the aftermarket power flushers that use much more pressure that can be a little sketchy. so for me it is how they do the flush. I will have to ask them how they do a ford bronco sport that has no serviceable filter.
