o I have to tell the service adviser everything I need them to remember to do and then climb under the car myself when they are down to verify it's been put back together correctly.
This is where I'm at with my local Ford service dept as well. I'll only take my cars there for warranty work. Anything else and I use a trusted local shop I've used for several years. They let me buy my own parts, and do exactly what I ask them to do--no more, no less. And I've never had to clean up after them.

After the constant upselling attempts, lack of actually doing the work, and insane prices I’m going to just find another place to have my maintenance done. My wife’s BS has 4400 miles and they were telling me it’s recommended to have some additional engine flush and fluid replacement done. I was like wtf the cars brand new. Just change the oil and rotate the tires like I asked. Then I took mine in the following day and they wanted to do rear diff, coolant, transmission, and some other fluids as well yet they can’t even rotate the tires as the manual recommends.
What you described is attempted fraud. They should be reported to your AG's office and Ford.

In addition, you might warn others on review sites like: BBB; Dealer Rater; Yelp; and Google.

I took my BS BL to the Ford dealership today for an oil change. At the dealership they have several large windows you can watch the work being done.
Today I had a front row seat This is what I observed.
1. While removing the skid plate the mechanic dropped it and let it fall to the ground, then just left it there kicking it around while he worked on the oil change.
2. During the oil change. The mechanic placed the oil basin with telescope lift under the vehicle to catch the oil. While the oil was draining he lowered the vehicle onto the drain basin collapsing it. When he noticed this he quickly lifted the vehicle and realigned the basin and lifted it to continue capturing the oil.
He did the same thing again walked around to the driver’s door to read the door jam label. When he noticed he didn’t again he lifted the vehicle again and again readjusted the oil basin.
3. When he was rotating the tires he went front to back, back to front. And boy oh boy, he loved his red impact wrench.
4. I thought maybe this is my last trip to the dealership for services.
5. Upon check out I asked if they took care of the update battery management system recall. Nope, so why take your ford to ford?

That's very discouraging. It sounds like you'd get better service at a quick lube place.

At Costco, they install lug nuts by hand, then tighten them using a calibrated torque wrench, THEN have a second tech with a different torque wrench double-check the first guy.

Not to sound like a grumpy old guy (I'll be 63 in a couple weeks) waxing nostalgic, but while incompetence; rudeness; unethical behavior; and lack of pride in one's work have always existed -- they are becoming the norm.

A recent example:

I called Pentair/Pentek to get performance data sheets for a few of their water filters. Most companies make the data available on their website -- so strike 1 is Pentair forcing their potential customers to call and request that it be emailed to them. I spoke with a CSR on Tuesday, 6/11. He promised to email me the data the next morning. Nope. Nothing. On Friday I called and spoke with his coworker (CSR #2)-- he swore I'd get an email from him this past Monday. Nope. Nothing. On the 19th I spoke with CSR #3, who pinky swear guaranteed me he would have CSR #2 send me the data. Never happened. Finally, yesterday, I called one last time, and spoke with CSR #4. He made no promises, in fact he said Pentair does not publish performance data for most of their filters! Buh-bye!

That's just one example. That attitude is rampant -- employees who do not seem to care about their job or how well their employer does. In some cases the employer is partially (if not wholly) at fault -- low pay; lack of benefits; poor treatment all have a roll.

Whatever the cause, it's gotten really bad.

It sounds like you should find someplace else to do routine work on your BS. Don't reward shoddy work.

about 5-tire rotation....I assume the new (spare) tire goes on to one of the rear?? I could try to measure the tires to see which one wear the most.

any thoughts? anybody??

Forward cross method. You’d want to start from the beginning and probably buy a matching wheel instead of the black steelie.

thank you! I got a matching wheel for the spare already so I will be set to go.

Now I just need to figure out and do more research on how to reset the TPM. I bought one for the spare to be installed.

a quick report on this matter....I put in the TPMS in the spare wheel and rotated into the driving wheels. first day the TPMS was reading the now "spare tire" in the trunk. I know because It was reduced to 12 psi to fit into the trunk. Then....I didn't do anything then the TPMS seems to automatically picked up the new tire installed and updated the pressure! looks like we have a "smart" system :)

What method are you all using for rotation?
Most of our family fleet has a separate set of rims and snow tires, so twice per year I'm swapping tires. I keep track of where the tires were last mounted and default to rotating front to back, back to front but I measure each tire and put the one with the most tread on the drive wheel. But since my snows are all directional, as are some of my all-weathers, I'm limited on side to side rotation. The exception here is my pickup that has a spare that's the same as the 4 primary, and no dedicated snow tires, so I do a 5-tire rotation on that with every oil change.
