My BS Big Bend came with Continental tires and I'm looking for replacement options. Looking for a beefier more aggressive tire that still rides well on the interstate. I don't do a lot off offroading, just some basic trips through fields and muddy terrain but I also commute 20 miles back and forth to work as it is my daily driver. Is there such a tire that suits both needs? Thanks in advance.

I ditched my stick Continentals after a couple days. I replaced them with BFG Trail Terrains in the stock 225/65/17 size. Big improvement both on-road and off!!!

The Trail Terrains kept my MPG the same and we as quite as stock. They are 3 Snow Peak rated unlike the Continentals! They were great in the snow! Really liked them!

however as time went by I realized I want a more aggressive tire and wanted to go up to a 245 tire so I went with the BFG KO2 245/65/17. I hit the trails every week and this tires are super! Can’t believe some of the stuff the BS has gone through with these!

Do you care more about the looks/functionality or your MPG? The original sized OEM 235/65/17 Falken Wildpeaks AT3 are beefier than your Continentals and light enough they shouldn't change your MPG much. You could throw some 245's on there and look good but you'll lose some MPG if that bothers you. Also lose some acceleration and pep with the 245.

There are such a tire - if you are on 17” rims check out the Goodyear Territory RT All Terrain 235 65 R17 tires - these are OE tires on 2025s

The tire part number and specs are here but confirm all specs of interest - the Tire weight is good at 29.5 lbs
I have not yet seen the mileage warranty for this tire but check that out carefully - my gut feel is the tire lifetime might be disappointing but because I don’t know that for sure I’d still recommend the tire

My 2025 test drives and from reviews of the 2025s I’ve seen are fairly positive about this tire

Nitto Nomad Grapplers. They come in 245/65/r17, but still lightweight at 34lbs.

34 lbs is awesome for that size tire. My KO2’s are 44 lbs I think and I love them but when they wear down I might consider something lighter just to see if I like that better.

well crap that explains things. Discount Tire lists the 245 KOs at 34.5 pounds! Doah! Lesson learned check manufacturer site. That being said love the KO2s.

Yeah I have Discount Tire to have a couple mistakes here and there so I always just check manufacturers website! But yes I love the performance of the KO2’s. They pulled me through over a foot of snow with no issues at all.

another example of KO2 traction!

i ended up having to drop into the ruts. They were filled with water so I couldn’t tell how bad they were! Then I got out and looked! Holy crap! Check the inside of the right rut where the skid plate acted like a giant trowel!!! Yes I love my KO2s!!! LOL!

That’s super impressive man. I bet those tires combined with the Badlands drivetrain is super fun!

it was fun looking back now! I was solo and I was making sure I didn’t do anything too risky. Once I realized just how deep the rut was I was already committed! I thought for sure I was going to have to make a phone call! ?‍♂

But yes the bigger more aggressive tires really is an absolute blast!!!

I’m pretty happy with the Maxxis tires that were on my BB when I bought it with 14k miles on it. They seem very quiet on the expressway (had it over 80mph many times), been through 8 in. snow, sand, heavy rain and the Sport just goes along like I’m driving on dry pavement.

Now when I say they seem quiet I haven’t compared them to tires others are talking about. This is the first vehicle I’ve had that uses AT tires. But they seem very quiet for what they are, the noise isn’t noticeable, except on one road, (on my other car the tires whine on this road too) and doesn’t bother me at all. They’re very stable at expressway speeds and I feel super confident going as fast as I want.

To me they look very aggressive and are perfect for the conditions I drive in and make the BS look great. Tread looks like it’s about halfway worn at 20k miles now, I think they’re supposed to have 50k warranty. I’m not sure if they’re the set that came with the car new. But I’m happy with them, seriously thinking about replacing them with same, maybe 235 or 245.

Here’s a not very good pic, gotta take a better on
