Seems the only correct choice when purchasing a BS is the Badlands. Spoke to a few dealers after hearing the rumor - it’s true for 3 of the 5 I called.
“We have too many on the lot, can’t use it right now.”
”a lot of people are trading them towards Badlands models.”
”We can, but you would be better off using Carvana etc.”
Other 2 dealers offered $1500 under what Carvana was offering.
Really hope the bottom doesn’t fall out on these - people are becoming, understandably, frustrated with the 1.5. I’ve been researching and logging all the failed water pumps, found 4 so far that have gone out that are the new design.
Thoughts? I’m not saying this is fact, just what I’ve heard first hand.
Mine sure seems to be. I’d been getting the ‘hint’ ones that show I could be into a 2023 for a similar/less payment (we won’t talk about the lengthened loan term…). Now their pleas are just flat out ‘we want to buy your car’. But there’s still nothing on the lot to even consider. They’re starting to pile up the $80-$100K F150s with the features removed for a few hundred credit, but beyond that there’s nothing. To get used cars in & turn, you have to sell somebody a new car.I think some dealers here in Canada are still looking for used cars on the frequent.
Yeah OP just started this thread to trash the Dragon engine, I am not sure why given it’s a new one…will be tough to find out the EcoBomb is the one that actually may develop more issues…Mine sure seems to be. AMEN. I haven't had any issues with the 1.5 - neither have my friends. A lot of fearmongering here.I read through the "issues" in both of these articles and I'm calling BS (that's bulls--t, not Bronco Sport). Here's the list:
There have been a few here on the forum who've experienced coolant loss due to failed water pumps, and I believe one who's engine overheated because the coolant level got too low. The rest of the list is complete bunk. I can recall no one on this forum complaining about ANY of the other listed issues. I do recall some complaints about odd vibrations and noises, but these are characteristics of the engine, not defects.
- Turbo Issues
- Coolant Leaks
- Overheating Problems
- Clogged Fuel Injectors
- Burned Out Spark Plugs and Coils
- Carbon Buildup
The 1.5L EcoBoost is an evolution of previous designs. If you count those, there are literally millions of these engines operating around the world. If there were widespread problems there would be more than a couple of poorly researched articles on obscure websites. The 1.5L is a fine engine, and I don't think I'm going out on a limb to suggest the overwhelming majority of owners will get many, many years of satisfactory service out of them.
If you want your cars to keep as much of their value as possible we need to call out the scaremongering every time we see it, folks.
X2 here. No issues with my 2023 Outer Banks. The 1.5 continues to amaze me with it's gutsy performance.AMEN. I haven't had any issues with the 1.5 - neither have my friends. A lot of fearmongering here.
why would I trash something I own? More like concern. Relax.Yeah OP just started this thread to trash the Dragon engine, I am not sure why given it’s a new one…will be tough to find out the EcoBomb is the one that actually may develop more issues…
But agreed trucks are starting to pile up and sales are slowing down across the board. Things will get interesting…
Yeah! I mean you do know the Escape/Bronco/Maverick all share a bunch of common parts, platform, etc right?! LolWho's talking about the Escape platform? Do you know which website you're on?
So you trolled my post to make this point?Yeah! I mean you do know the Escape/Bronco/Maverick all share a bunch of common parts, platform, etc right?! Lol
Do they speak English where you are at? Do you know how to read? At no point, did the OP "trash" the engine. YOU are the one that came on here and decided to wax poetic about how great the 1.5 is and how the "Ecobomb" is waiting to happen to the 2.0.Yeah OP just started this thread to trash the Dragon engine, I am not sure why given it’s a new one…will be tough to find out the EcoBomb is the one that actually may develop more issues…

I’ve received two offers to buy my outer banks from two dealers, the one that sold it to me and another about 50 miles away. They said it was a desirable hard to find model. It has every option except a moon roof and a engine heater. Oh yeah, no table/shelf in the back. I just wonder if they really want it, or are just trying to sell me a replacement car.Seems the only correct choice when purchasing a BS is the Badlands. My guess is both.I’ve received two offers to buy my outer banks from two dealers, the one that sold it to me and another about 50 miles away. They said it was a desirable hard to find model.
