Going to be moving to Baltimore area soon and hoping to explore some light trails and off roading adventures. Hoping to meet up with other BS owners and make some new friends in the area and go exploring trails.

You may need to add a machine gun turret on the roof.:)

Welcome! I’m just south of Baltimore and also looking for some local trails etc. There are not a ton around but I did find a few options in WVA. I have a big bend so light off-roading is the goal.

I can’t help you with the trails but I used to have a job where I traveled a lot. Recently someone asked me to rank my three favorite places to eat. It was tough as I’ve been to over a 100 cities but I ranked Baltimore third. So find some locals that like to eat and enjoy your new locale!

If "Baltimore area" means 695 Beltway-adjacent and you haven't settled on where to live, consider north of Bawl'more (Harford County).

Bawl'more, Merlin (spelled here as it's spoken hereabouts) has a few spots that still rate the "Charm City" nickname, but most of it has really gone downhill. Dread having to go there (e.g., VA bldg).

Wouldn't be proper to end this w/o wishing you smooth roads and smooth driving..., Hon.

Maybe Topher should take his BS 'Downee Ocean Hon!'

I just glanced at Google Maps to see if there might be any trails down that way. Nothing jumped out at me.

I did find this, which has a few ideas:
https://www.where2wheel.com/about-w2w/w2w-blog-2/11-trails/31-offroading-in-md-maryland-4x4-offroad-trails.html

The Frederick Municipal Forest is just a few miles from our house. As the blog says, it's light off-roading. They were talking about installing gates a while back -- you might want to check before driving out from B'more.

Everyone has been so helpful on this thread. It’s making me more excited about the move and finally getting there.

This probably goes without saying, but do your homework before selecting an area of the city or the surrounding county. The quality of life varies a lot.

I second Harford County, or even the Harford Co border of Cecil County. Depending on where you work, of course. Just be warned, I-95 traffic is horrible. Almost as bad as LA some days. I'd even take Manhattan traffic over I-95 some days. And if you wind up touring the east side, go out to Middle River / Bowley's Quarters, and get some crab cakes at By The Docks. Some will claim Phillips (meh), G&M (not bad), Jimmy's Famous Seafood (over hyped) all have superior crab cakes, but I like By The Docks. Or even Old Philadelphia Inn in White Marsh/Nottingham, but I'm partial to both of those because that's where I grew up.

I'm sure most of us locals would be happy to rate your potential neighborhoods.

My wife grew up in Essex (near Back River Neck and Turkey Point Roads).

Sadly, that's an example of an area Topher would be well advised to avoid.

As you said though, good crabs!

eh, I'm still down that way often. While not the neighborhood it was in the 70s and 80s, it's still not that bad. Not like Cedonia, Chesaco, Dundalk, or most of Edgewood.
