Thank you for the recommendations. The worst part is that it will do it pulling out of the garage in the morning…and when I back out of my parking spot after work. Also, pulling out of a parking spot after church. It’s loud and embarrassing.
I’ve heard some people say it’s the type of brake pads cleaning off a very fine layer of rust on the disc, but why is it that there are thousands of other models of cars out there that don’t do this?
I feel like I could go down the road of buying and trying different brake pads, but feel like this is something that should need to be done on a new car that’s 4 months off the lot.
Any chance the open recall will take care of this when they have a fix? The recall is for front brakes, so I have no idea.
Mine is so loud in the morning it could wake the dead! ā€œAnnoyingā€œ is not a strong enough word ?

I had not heard it do it for a few weeks. This weekend I went to the car wash. I pulled around to vacuums and as I slowly backed up I touched the brake pedal and thought I had just run over a pair of adult Canadian Geese !

Mine is normally garage-kept and I had no idea what any of you were going on about. Until I relocated to rainy western North Carolina and now it's being kept outside for 4 months. I consider it my second alarm clock, because I get to wake up with a start twice each morning. ?

I may just throw some new ceramic shoes in there myself to get rid of the squeal...
Make sure read up on disabling electric parking brake. Otherwise could end up pistons pop out of calipers and deal with that headache....

I posted on another similar forum topic about this issue. Rust can develop on the brake calipers, doesn't take a lot to then cause that noise you are hearing. the rust will wear off as you apply the brakes and the noise goes away. I had a case where the calipers were completely covered in rust. It sounded pretty bad the first few times I applied the breaks, but the pads wore the rust off the calipers. Probably not good for the brake pads. I had this issue with a Honda CRV I once owned too.

Rust on a brand new car? I sure hope not! I live in drought-ridden southern california, and doubt it’s rusted… unless it rained all the way during delivery!

I have a 2021 Big Bend that I absolutely love, other than my rear brakes squeal like a New York bus. It only happens in reverse on start up when it is cold or wet outside (so basically all winter). At my house pulling out of the garage ever morning is one thing, but is embarrassing leaving work each day and after a Sunday morning church service.
I took it to the dealer, where they verified it. In fact, one of the service reps has a BS and she confirmed ā€œmine does it. it’s terrible, but they say ā€˜Ford states it’s normal’, but I think it will eventually be recalledā€. She even provided the attached documentation.
How can this be considered normal? My Toyota 4Runner’s brakes don’t do this. My 2012 Ford Escape’s brakes don’t do it. In fact, no vehicle I know of considers this normal. It’s worse than a New York bus on a new Bronco Sport…but no warranty repair or fix?

So intermittent basically covers ALL the time they do it, LOL. Mine does it all the time now, it used to be 'intermittent'. Hopefully they find a fix. I may try something like changing out pads and hardware on my own, Ford's answer to this doesn't really instill confidence in me regarding their ability to make fixes. Other than the brake noise, I love the vehicle.

Surface rust on rotors is a normal occurrence, even if you have no rain, when you're driving and using your brakes during the day, then the car sits overnight, the rotors cool down and the air temp also does after the sun goes down, even a slight difference in the temperature of the rotors vs the air will cause condensation which then turns to surface 'rust'. Not harmful to the rotors or the pads and goes away after a few minutes of driving. It happens on my Bronco Sport, and my Audi S7 which has much larger rotors.

I've been told that there is a TSB on this issue. I have the same problem. It can be intermittent but definitely annoying as heck. The dealer says when there's a fix, they will notify me.
Kinda doubtful there's ever gonna be a fix. ( I have a 21 bronco sport badlands).

There are 3 TSBs so far and all 3 are obsolete

Ford stated a ā€œfixā€ is coming 4Q 2024

with todays announcement of the 2025 models maybe the 4Q ā€œfixā€ is to buy a 2025 model
??
