Picked up BS BL today. Dealer claimed $1,000 order incentive did NOT apply to Bronco Sport!

Glad you stuck to your guns and were informed by being part of this community. It’s too bad that it even had to come to that.
My thinking exactly.

I suppose there's a slight chance they honestly did not know, but...

Something else that I didn't mention earlier is that even after they grudgingly conceded that the $1,000 order credit did apply, they said it as only for the Badlands.

"Cash" buyer here as well, but I do finance as the dealer makes a few $ from the lender, so that makes negotiations a bit smoother.
Then pay off just before second payment is due. Works out for all...
I had planned to pay all cash, but that would have meant pulling about $20,000 out of a Vanguard S&P 500 index fund. Since the market is down I just transferred $10,000. Put $20,000 down and financed ~$18,000 (@0.9%). So they should have been happy about that. Total interest is only $250, so we may just continue to make payments. 0.9% is very cheap money,

When was the incentive available? I was not told of it, but I got my offer toward the invoice price rather than MSRP, so it might not have been available at the time of sale.
I don't have exact dates, but my impression is that it's been going on for about a year and applies to most models that are customer orders -- including all trims of the BS.

You can take advantage of it if it was in effect at the time of order or delivery.

Not shocking , Ford dealerships are dishonest. Ford let's them get away with it for obvious reasons. It is why you don't walk out until you get what you want and deserve.

That was one of the benefits of going through Granger even though they are 300 miles away. The whole process was great. They have earned my dollars for when I buy a Ford again. Just a pleasurable experience even before I actually signed the order paperwork.

I’ve been spoiled over the past 50 years since my father worked for Ford his entire career. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. I always bought direct when I ordered new Fords. Never a question about price. That never stopped the “Do you want scotchgard” or other dealer add on questions at the paperwork office. I have financed as well when it worked in my favor.
In hindsight, I'm beginning to wish I had just gone to Granger. They are ~1,000 miles away, but coincidentally my wife and I have family in Iowa, including some about 35 min. from Granger, so we could have visited them and picked up the Badlands.

The primary reason I hesitated was that I've had numerous bad experiences when attempting to get warranty service done by a dealer that did not sell the car. They tend to have a serious attitude problem and either flat-out refuse to do the work or be very difficult about it. So I was/am trying to avoid that 'unpleasantness', but at some point the scale tips the other way. Being treated ethically and saving ~$3,500 probably beats any *potentially* easier warranty work.

Huh.... I bought my BS a month ago and an incentive wasn't mentioned. I'm wondering if that went into the dealer's pocket, or if I'm owed a check from Ford. I haven't had any luck with my local dealer when I asked them about the various missing parts that I've discovered since the purchase, so I doubt that they'd be very helpful.

Looking at the incentives, I don't see anything that would apply unless the incentive has expired. I noted that the vet's incentive applies only within 24 months of separation. I guess 1987 is too long ago. :sunglasses:
If you *ordered* your BS (as opposed to buying off the lot) then from everything I've read here and elsewhere, you should be able to get the $1,000 order incentive/credit.

Thanks, I'm clear on that now.

My dealer tried pulling the same crap and said the rebate expired, and then tried acting like the “good guys” after I complained. Left them a very lukewarm review on Yelp.
That's helpful, thank you.

I suspect that if we hadn't pushed it there would be some way for the dealer to pocket that $1,000. Otherwise, why be so deceptive or elusive about it? I mean, if they absolutely cannot keep it for themselves, you'd think they would make an effort to make sure the customer gets it.

I screen shotted the offer on my phone and I'll have Ford customer service on speed dial the day I go in to pick up my BS. This dealership has been good in the past, but times being what they are I don't really trust any of them. Buyers really have almost no leverage because the person right behind you will gladly be taken advantage of to get the vehicle you configured, ordered, and waited months to receive. The threat to walk is really an offer for them to make even more money. The only thing the dealerships have to lose is reputation. I hope it's enough.

It's usually listed on the dealership website. Just take a picture of it or print it out.
Good advice.

To be honest, the BL came in much earlier than expected. At maybe 2 PM yesterday, my wife told me it was in and she had told them we'd be there between 4 and 5. So I didn't have much time, and to be honest, it did not occur to me that it was necessary to have hard evidence of the Ford order credit. I mean, the $1,000 credit is common knowledge and has been going on for months -- not some special deal that no one has heard of. They took me by surprise when they said that it did not apply to the BS.

Anyway, in hindsight, yeah, it's a good idea to print it out, and maybe have it signed by Jim Farley. ?

First time bought a vehicle at full MSRP and plus shipping costs; most "costly" vehicle in hubby's 80 years.
Don't feel bad. Everyone knows "MSRP" is *usually* a high price -- wishful thinking on the part of the mfr and dealers -- but of course what really matters is the market value.

Generally speaking, particularly in the "before times" (before COVID and all of the supply issues) most vehicles sold for something between invoice and MSRP. There are still some like that, but popular models like the BS are going for over MSRP, often thousands over (off the lot).

As a 'car guy' I've run into ADM (add'l dealer markup) several times over the years. I'd read about vehicle in the car magazines (back in the day), get all excited about it, go to the dealer and see "$5,000 ADM" next to the window sticker, and walk out -- and that was back in the 1980s.

The BL is replacing my wife's 1997 RAV4. Back then, the RAV had just come out (in '96) and it was very popular. We were looking for one with ABS (an option then), the Torsen rear differential, and manual transmission with a manual locking center diff. There was exactly one (1) in the entire Mid-Atlantic region! The dealer saw us coming because a friend of ours (a Toyota employee) had done some searching for us, which the dealer was aware of. When we arrived the salesman said, "You can have any of those RAV4s on the lot for $500 over invoice, but *this* one (there in the showroom) is full MSRP." Of course it was the one we wanted, and he knew it -- and also knew that he had the only one in a multi-state area. It also happened to be our favorite color. So we paid MSRP.

Supply and demand will get ya every time.:cool:

Indeed. Neighbor checked on a new Cadillac. Dealer was adding $25,000.00
(Yep. Twenty five grand)
Didn't buy...
If I am correct, and half the time I am not, Ford said that dealer can NOT sell new vehicle over MSRP. Pre-owned is another matter.

Put $20,000 down and financed ~$18,000 (@0.9%).
Is Ford offering that 0.9% financing? When I looked on the website a few weeks ago, it was more like 6%. Local credit union is still 2.5%.

My dealer advertises 0.9%/36 month, 1.9%/48 months, 2.9% 60 months through Ford Credit for MY22. Ford Credit or one of the dealer's finance partners has always beat my local credit union's number.

Worst part about selling my 21 Big Bend was losing 0.9%/60 month financing!
