Would it be possible to get the parts for the rain sensing wipers and retro-fit them to the BL?
I imagine it's possible, but can't imagine a less worthwhile effort in terms of cost, hassle, and benefit.

I've had rain-sensing wipers in other cars for many years now. It's kind of nice - sort of. But I often find that I want to activate them at a different cadence than the automation, or I don't want them going off so I turn it off. I'd say I prefer to manually control the speed and on/off of the wipers 90% of the time. I wouldn't be willing to pay for them if they weren't already included in whatever package I'm buying.

Our RAV4 had them and they were always spot on.
The only time I turned them off was at the car wash.

It may crack you up but how am I wrong? The 1.5L motor is lethargic compared to the 2.0. This was my impression. For those that don't want to pony up for the BL with the 2.0 don't drive it. You will be sorely disappointed with the base 1.5L. The 2.0 has 70 more hp, over 80 ft/lbs of torque in a similar weight vehicle. I never would have even considered a BS if it only came with the 1.5L.
I totally agree with you. The 2.0 was the only choice for me. It really didn't matter which trim I would get. Heck, if the Big Bend offered the 2.0, I would have went with that. I own a 2017 Ford Escape with the 2.0 and it is a true beast!

I drove an OB about 30 minutes after driving a CX-50 (non-turbo). The OB was definitely peppier to me. It almost felt like the parking break was on when driving the CX-50.

But but...1.3 seconds. I mean I hammer 0--60 at least...never?
Honestly the 7.7 I think is too long. I’ve read as short as 6 seconds 0-60 and I agree after my own personal trials in sport mode…..

Badlands is the main reason to get the bronco sport. Otherwise a RAV4 is probably a better option for most.
The RAV4’s I’ve driven struggle on even simple dirt roads compared to my current car. The AWD system on all BS trims is superior. In fact, pretty much anything else in its class is superior to the RAV4 AWD. The exhaust hangs really low on the Toyota as well making its departure angle about 10 degrees lower. Despite the lower horsepower, I prefer the engine on the BS. You reach peak torque much earlier with the BS and it feels peppier overall. Tested both on mountain trails in WA, which is why I decided on getting the BS over anything else. But you’re right about the BL being better suited for off-road. Problem is that they’re almost impossible to find. You have to order and wait.

1.5 vs 2.0 comes up a lot here. I swear I can sense chest thumping when some talk about the 2.0. ?
Yeah it’s funny to me. I had a Model Y that I sold last year. That thing went 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. I guarantee that compared to this 2.0L, that thing felt like a spaceship. 98%+ of the time though I was stuck in traffic unable to accelerate that fast. I floored it for like a week after I got it whenever I got the chance and then it just got old. People obsess too much over numbers when most of the time they’re going to be accelerating at the same rate anyway, 2.0l or not.

That's what I did.

My order went in on 8/2, so it should be an early 2023 model.
Yup. However, back when I got it a few months ago, Ford wasn’t taking orders. I needed something for summer beach driving and this car has delivered in ways that others haven’t. But I honestly think the BL is unnecessary for most of the people buying them. They could get by just fine without the extra stuff and get better gas mileage while doing so. I really could use the extra ground clearance, approach angle, and suspension for the trails and beach driving I’m doing, but I don’t need it. If I really needed it though, I would just go for a used Wrangler or 4Runner as a second car that I wouldn’t mind beating up.

Oh, I don't *need* the BL.

I just wanted it.

I agree - unless one spends time at the track, where these numbers really matter, they don't matter. The only thing that matters in the real world are real world use-cases. For me, that includes highways with steep inclines. I've been on many where you are going highways speeds at an incline that is very taxing to small engines. I recall being on a highway like this between Vegas and Phoenix, and the small Hyundai Accent I was in had enough power to maintain the speed I was going, but acceleration was impossible. Same thing in Northern AZ. I was on a highway somewhere either in Tennessee or South Carolina (don't recall), in a Honda Odyssey in bad winter weather and it was all the car had in it to crawl up the hill. If I'd come to a stop, I would have been stuck.

I'm not in those situations often, but those are why I bought the 2.0 and not any 0-60 times that really are irrelevant other than as a relative number that just indicates that the 1.5 is not comparable to the 2.0 in acceleration, and many real-world driving conditions. I've no doubt it's just fine in most driving conditions, but where it's not are not obscure use-cases.

Lol true, no issue with that. But I wouldn’t knock the lower trims and tell people to get a RAV4 instead, which I read earlier on in this thread or another. There is a bit of a superiority complex going around just because people own the BL. They end up saying pretty ridiculous things like the lower trims are the same as a CRV or whatever. That’s just not accurate.

Hell I might even put in an order for a BL and trade in my current car when it’s ready because I do want it as well. Just want to make sure people don’t jump to conclusions about the lower trims. You can definitely still do things in them you can’t do as easily in a CRV or RAV4 and for most, those things are enough. I don’t think the BL is a requirement for the “off-roading” most people who get them are doing.

I think the best part about buying something is that you aren't obligated to justify your purchase to other people. They aren't making your car payments, folks! Getting the BL because you wanted it is totally cool. Getting the BL because you have a million off-road applications is totally cool. I'm seeing a lot of defensive folks in this thread and just want you all to know that your choice is valid regardless of what others think you might need. All the trims have benefits and weaknesses - Buy/order what you think is best.

Yup, but part of it is also helping others make a good choice for themselves. Seeing as the thread is someone asking which one to get, we should probably try to give good information. There is nothing wrong with getting a BL and waiting for it because you want it. I do think there is something wrong in saying that it’s the only trim worth getting and providing false information to support that statement. When we’re talking about money and gas consumption, steering someone to a product when they don’t really have a preference formed already on the basis of that product being what they “need” is just bad advice and irresponsible. It’s not what most people need and they could get by with less car for less money while still having good off-road capability. Saying otherwise is bad advice ??‍♂.
