My wife’s 2016 HRV has a sunroof as does my 2013 ES350. Unfortunately, I can count on one hand how often the shade or the window has actually been opened on the Lexus since 2016 when I acquired it from my father. My wife tends to leave her shade open in the winter for the vitamin D but rarely opens the roof. That being said, neither have ever had a leak or any other issue although mine could be stuck closed and I wouldn’t notice!

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your dealer. My personal opinion is this will get worse before it gets better. The vehicles are getting more difficult to accurately diagnose and it’s becoming a specialty that few seem interested in getting into.

I honestly picked up on it before I saw your username. 😅

Sorry to hear about your moonroof. It's strange. I honestly haven't heard of a sunroof or moonroof being garbage from factory in a LONG TIME. It used to be commonplace twenty years ago, where as some have said, you wanted to avoid the option because it was just an extra thing that would break. But haven't seen one be a problem that wasn't from user neglect in a while.
Agreed. The last car I owned that had any issues with the Moonroof was about 15 years ago - and it was a blown fuse.

I think virtually all commercial and automobile glass, blocks UVB rays which are giving the Vitamin D benefit. You have to open the window or in this case the moonroof.

Is it irrational that once I do get my car back, I’m probably going to be hesitant about opening the roof again?

Unless you are known for constantly living on the edge, it’s human nature to be hesitant

But your original moonroof could have just been defective or installed improperly and the new one should be fine. Enjoy!!

Hopefully going to get some news tomorrow when a Ford engineer is scheduled to visit the dealership and take a look.
I hope it’s good news because I really dislike this Edge.
HVAC controls in the touchscreen is a massive no-no and talk about thirsty! I reset the MPG and trip meter when I picked it up. I’d say 95% of my commute is lower speed highway (55-60mph) but despite this - and trying my best - so far, it’s used a tank AND A HALF to do 516 miles!
30.8mpg?
Yeah, right.

It seems the computer calculated mileage is almost always "optimistic."

I've never heard of a mfr engineer visiting the dealership for a problem, that's great.

Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Wow, I almost missed it!
Today is an anniversary for my dealer and me…and they didn’t even get me anything.
Also this does mean that if they have it for just one more week, they will have had hold of it for longer than I have.

Update time!
Coming into week 10 and well past the point where they’ve had the car longer than I have.
Mid-June, the Ford engineer told them to go ahead and replace parts of the sunroof (I forget what he named, it was so long ago). They said the car would be going over to the bodyshop to get that done and indeed, when I checked the car location on FordPass, it had moved.

I was given a return date of Thursday 27th June but that came and went.
So, I got a call this morning.
”We have the Ford engineer here today and he just needs to clarify…has the roof EVER worked?”
Ohhh dear, that’s probably a bad sign.
I went on to explain that yes it had and precisely what had happened when it stopped working.
Waiting for a callback which I’m sure I’ll get at some point next week.

So I picked up my Eruption Green Big Bend about six weeks ago and I’ve been delighted with it.
Except that the moonroof broke and stuck open. I eventually got it closed, bit by bit, but then it was stuck closed with the sunshade stuck open.

However, whilst I’m obviously very disappointed with this, my main source of ire has been with the dealer response. Coming up to two weeks that they’ve had the car and with seemingly little to no progress. Just a series of fobbing offs about the tech trying different reinitialisation techniques.
So, two out of six weeks of having the car, I’ve not actually had the car.

A bit of a kick in the teeth since I waited a little longer to get this one because of the moonroof and I passed on an EG OB with the Black Diamond pack (those gorgeous wheels) because it didn’t have the roof.
Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.
Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!

“Reunited and it feels so good”

And all it took was 12 weeks, 1 day, 4 hours, and two minutes.
Why was I even worried?

I know this is off topic and I'm sorry for the troubles you’ve had… but that green looks so badass in that picture you posted! Really popping hard

Thanks. 😎
Obviously, it’s entirely subjective but IMO, Eruption Green is the best colour currently available on the Bronco Sport.
If I’d have got mine a year or two ago though, I might have gone for Cyber Orange.
