I have never owned a vehicle with brakes lasting this long.

My original rear brake pads were changed at 117,000 miles.

I just had the original front brake pads changed at 142,000 miles. The pads still had material but the rotors had become warped. Dealer replaced the pads and machined the rotors.

I drive a lot of highway/freeway miles. On long drives I always use intelligent adaptive cruise control and lane centering. This tends to favor the rear brakes more than the front brakes to keep the vehicle from nose diving.

Unlike vehicles with a granny gear which can rely on engine braking, the Bronco Sport relies exclusively on brakes to control steep descents when operating off road. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Ford increased brake capacity on these vehicles for that reason.

I had a similar experience with my 2010 Escape. My rear brakes lasted until I sold the vehicle in 2024.

Here is a related question. Based on your mileage and driving patterns, how have your tires worn and lasted. Since A/T tires can be expensive, I am trying to budget when I will have to replace my 2024's OEMs.

My OB came from the factory with Michelin Primacy A/S tires. I have replaced the tires twice with the exact same tire.

New tires at 60,000 miles and 120,000 miles.

So that is basically a street tire, and you achieved the warranty of 55K miles. Good to know. Thanks.

Since you have the 1.5 Eco Boost and that many miles have you had the Water Pump replaced?

I have the original water pump. I will occasionally add a little coolant.
Makes you wonder doesn't it some guys on the second or third water pump with a lot less miles than you have on yours.

The 1.5L water pump failure rate is the wonder … what do you think the failure rate is? <<1%? (Much less than 1%?)

Regarding rear brake pads, I was down to <2mm @ 36k ,for the 21 BL.
Fronts are still showing 8+ mm. Not a lot of off road, split hours of highway and rural around the small roads. I'm not heavy on the peddles, engine/trans control mostly. What are others experiencing?

Wow, that seems excessive to me. Mine's around 31K and I still a lot of pad material on the rear pads. I didn't measure, but it had to be close to 5-7mm.

Surprised they machined the rotors. I’ve found most these days to be too thin for that. Good to know.
I haven’t machined rotors in probably 30 or more years. Cheaper and easier to buy them online.

Do you use adaptive cruise control much on the highway?
