Original side rails; w/o the moon roof it's rated for 800lbs parked and 150lbs while moving. I got the Yakima Jetstreams to go with my rtt for easy install.
We have sunroof so... rated for less weight... gotcha. Should we have gone with a regular roof then? Does it matter? I think two people plus tent (baroud or not) well under 600??? Obviously new at the rooftop tent stuff here... TY for all advice

just got home from living in our roof top tent for 8 nights. probably the best sleeps i've had in some time.
we have a Smittybuilt roof top tent, and Thule whisper evo crossbars. on top of a 21 bronco sport base.
we are both 6’1 tall and 175ish lbs each. lots of room!

Sounds like an awesome trip. What does your tent weigh? How was performance of the 1.5L with the tent and gear and people? Thanks.

The roof top tent is nice. There no excuse not to camp. Especially in the winter when there’s ice and cold ground. Spring there’s slushy snow and mud. +1 for RTT

I put mine centered and toward the back. But I got the 60in bars so when I get my "narrow basket" and shower I can put the tent to one side and still have room for everything else. This picture is on a pickup but you get the idea. I would center yours unless you are adding things to the top. Also have the ladder drop on the passenger side or driver side. If you have it come off the trunk you can only open the glass hatch from the back.

I have a bronco sport and I'm looking into getting a RTT (probably the one from Rough Country) but to be honest I would like the tent to open towards the back not to the sides, I have that taller crossbar so my tent would be sitting maybe 1 or 2in higher than yours. Would I be able to open the trunk? Even if it doesn't open all the way up, just about 80%, that would be ok. But would I have enough clearance for the ladder with the trunk open? Would it work? Thanks

in the instruction manual on ours, you can mount it side facing (like ours) or rear facing. with the bronco sport, i don't think it would work rear facing due to the height of the gate when opened. you would probably have to strap the gate at a lower height for it to work.

Is the Thule Whisper Evo Crossbar the same that ford offers on their parts site?
https://accessories.ford.com/products/bronco-sport-2021-thule-black-extra-long-cross-bar-kit-1?variant=40733076324543

Trying to figure out the best place to spend my Ford Pass points. (And I have the Gen2 of your RTT, bought it almost two years ago to put on top of my Forester. Week later someone t-boned my wife and the Tiguan we had between that and our BS didn't have rails for cross bars. Poor tent has been in it's box since I picked it up).

What are the BS's roof rails rated for, weight wise, especially the physical roof itself?

Dynamic is 100lbs with the sunroof and 150lbs without. Static is 600lbs for both.
