Foul play for sure.
My dealership has had an RDU on back order for me for NINE weeks now. My car just sitting there. I had to twist arms for a loaner/rental ($267/week) which thankfully they’re covering after much discussion.
I spoke with four Ford CS reps and they all gave me different information. My “case rep” closed the file without letting me know (after NO resolution!) because apparently her having had contact with the dealership was considered sufficient. I left three messages for her to please call me back and never heard back. I never got an incoming call from corporate, ever.
Exactly. My CS rep closed my case because dealership never responded. I was forwarded to to others before I spoke with a supervisor of CS reps who "escalated" and tried calling the dealership with me on the phone. Voicemail in service. No "live" person was communicated with. The supervisor left a message for the dealer to call, and this was Friday. Nothing but crickets.

Here is what I am going to do, in no particular order since this whole debacle has stalled with Ford (supervisor told me that the dealership paid Ford for the "right" to carry the brand, she was powerless).
1) Attempt to reach the GM of the dealership and outline the issue. Look for a resolution. If none, or unable to contact then...
2) BBB file a complaint
3)Google review of dealership with story, names, phone extensions, etc.
4) Carry myself downtown to small claims court and pay the money to file a claim.
5) Inform Ford of the steps to date.

Your encouragement and empathy on this forum is appreciated!

Prior to discovering this forum, I was oblivious to the "grinding" and "dragging" sensation coming from the rear of the vehicle at low speed, turning, etc. I described it as noise associated with a locked differential or a stuck parking brake. I've owned this certified Big Bend since March (from a dealer with 45Kish miles), and the problem has gradually become more noticeable. A month ago I went to another more local dealer for the factory recall on the electrical issue, and I asked them about the mysterious issue with "grinding." The tech fixed the recall but was "unable to duplicate" the problem. I made sure this was documented on my invoice.
2 weeks ago (concerned about my mileage and my 5/60 drivetrain warranty) I went to another dealer (who shall be unnamed for the moment) who diagnosed the vehicle as a common issue. The hose/vent tube/line from the RDU had "collapsed on itself" and the repair consisted of a new and improved line. The dealership documented the replacement and fluid change of the RDU. They quoted me $575 to repair. I told them it should be under warranty, particularly since the stock part has been upgraded (Ford knew there was an issue.) My service advisor told me he was dealing with Ford and that it was NOT under warranty. What???? He "felt bad" and only charged me $475. I made sure everything was documented (in case something RDU related goes south after my 5/60) and I took my much improved Bronco home, figuring I would deal with Ford about the $475 I came out of pocket for.

Fast forward to today. I have dealt with 2 customer service reps at Ford who were very helpful and were going top get resolution for me. Nearly 2 weeks and nothing. I am being "ghosted" by my first rep- she doesnt respond (anymore) to my email or return my calls. Her Ford voicemail is full, so I cant leave a voice message. The second rep was also very helpful- she told me she would follow up with dealership and get back to me. She would notify #1's supervisor about the lack of responsiveness. Nothing.

This forum post is the last step I take prior to taking it to the next level- at Ford and the dealership that I am convinced tried to rip me off. Any words of wisdom/advice from the group is much appreciated. I've been a fan of Ford (owned a Focus ST, F-150, Explorer, Mustang GT, and a Transit Connect- still have the latter 4) and I have never had issues like this!

TIA!

I went to pick up my 22 BB from the dealership last Friday after the rear differential hose got replaced....to the tune of $605. I drove it around the dealer lot testing it and sure enough, it wasn't fixed. I left it there since the RDU had to be replaced now. Due to their inability to recognize the vehicle wasn't fixed with the hose replacement, I got a refund in full for my $605. The service mgr told us the TSB needs to change because hose replacements aren't the answer for most of the Sports they are seeing, and they are seeing on average 2 a day. I called Ford multiple times when this started going on,they couldn't care less.

How in the Hell could anyone (service rep or technician) believe that replacing a hose could do ANYTHING to fix contaminated fluid and or failing/failed internal components?? The original hoses were suspect of allowing contaminates in. The FRIKKEN TSB states to drain then fill the RDU with fresh fluid AND the new-design hose installed to keep the new fluid clean. If this combo does not resolve the issue, the RDU is toast and will need replacement. I MEAN, THE STUPID DEALER DERPS HAVE ALL THE INFOS AT HAND AND SEEM TO BE HELL BENT ON NOT FINDING OR USING SAID INFOS. Ford must be doing a Jeep thing, because I do not understand.

Do NOT give your dealer this SSM (49571) number. Tho' it lists the Sport in the top section, it does not in the, "Applicable Vehicles" list. This is the number I originally brought up to our dealer and after they kept the vehicle for a day, informed me that the Sport is not on the list. There is at least one updated number for this that DOES list the Sport as applicable. It took me 3 more visits to them and a few phone calls to convince them that we have a problem that needs fixed and even at that I had to go to a different dealer and start all over again to finally, months later get THEM to understand, get the parts, and finally fix the frikken thing. 8 months total from 1st visit to repaired.

Correct - see TSB 24-2185 (supersedes 23-2335)

well there's the culprit
vent hose poise in an upright vertical position
ready to take in any moisture
RDU running normal operating temperature encounters puddle water event
rapid cool down
vent air flow reverses
kinda like taking that sip of coffee while inhaling
sometimes not so pleasant
repeat over and over
gear oil turns milky
planetary chaos ensues

Did you bend it over?
it looks like the new and improved is extended upward and bent downward
makes more sense to elevate to max level
might pick up vent hose myself for switcheroo
catch it before it becomes an issue

So vent hose can suck in water in some cases and dilute RDU oil? Vent hose in rear wheel well? Cause I have a '21 Badlands built before that date..
