***BUMP***BUMP***BUMP***

I've had a Badlands for about 4 months now and I am having almost the same issue. I was wondering if anyone has had anything for a fix instead of the cabin filter.

I have discovered that it has to be at least 70' out before the air will work right. Even then it takes a bit for it to ramp up, I've never had a vehicle do this. If it's below 70' I can turn the thermostat down to 65'-64' before the hot air will just barely start cooling down. I have to put it on Max at 60' just to get some cool air going. Not cold, cool. But this issue only happens about 75% of the time. for instance. It was 65' the other day we went on a family ride and about 4 miles into it we were freezing. By the time we got to our destination about a 40 mile ride, I had the thermostat set on 74' and we were still pretty chilly. Also, does anyone else's blower motor sound like a prop planes engine when it is on the top 3 settings. It sounds like my dash is about to take off.

On different Ford forums I have read anything from low on freon, compressor, expansion valve, cabin filter among other things. And I guess I will have to end up at another dealer because my usual one has the " we can't get it to duplicate the issue when we diagnose it" syndrome disease. I have been having transmission trouble and a couple of other things. When the tell me it's ready and I pick it up that is what is on the ticket. Then I get the service advisor or manager ang show them before I leave and they just say, "oh, well we couldn't get it to do that".

One last question, does the Ford Rep still get on here any? I have seen them reply in old threads but nothing that I have looked at of lately.

Thanks

Some answers:

1. Regarding “blower motor sound like a prop planes engine when it is on the top 3 settings”

Have a look directly under the passenger side (from the floor, below the glove box look up behind the glove box) - do you see a panel or are you looking directly up at the bottom of the blower motor, passenger side fuse box, etc?

You could be missing the Fuse panel cover, interior, passenger side:
Instrument Panel Cover Passenger Side
M1PZ-78046A25-AA
Dash Panel Insulator, Part #: 78046A25

While there, go ahead and lower the glove box completely and check the cabin air filter - make sure is clean and not clogged up

The AC condenser had to be replaced at 15k miles on my ‘22 1.5l. Covered by the 3 year warranty. It only blew outside air temperature air. The highest fan setting was loud, not excessively so.

I added the cover after I first got it. I took it off thinking that maybe that was what was causing it. I just put a new cabin filter in. I took it out thinking that maybe it was the problem. But neither one was the issue. I'm taking it into the dealership today since the A/C has been blowing hot air off and on lately. Some days it will run you out and others it just blows hot air.

Don't know why the pic doesn't load; it's from this site! I copied a photo from the owner's manual instead.
I see the pic.

I live in muggy Florida. Our A/C blows out frosty cold air when the MAX button is pressed. It will cool the interior in less than a minute.
