Lifted sport outer banks with rough country 1.5 lift. Went to bell tire and they told basically nothing for options to get more aggressive tires… is that true?
Anyone have pics of tires they put on there lifted outer banks with the 18” rims. I don’t know much about tires so sorry for the dumb questions 😇

For an 18" wheel the biggest tire you can comfortably get is the 245/60/18, which is 29.5".

This same tire size can be had in other wheel sizes:
  • 245/55/19
  • 245/65/17
  • 245/70/16
I think you can get the basic idea here. The interference/rub that happens on the Bronco Sport is that the tire will hit the pinch weld at the back side of the wheel well when the suspension is compressed and the steering wheel is turned. Anything larger than a 29.5" (go to tiresize.com for information) will most likely cause a rub at the extremes.

Some people have cut the pinch weld to get more clearance, but this is a very dangerous idea for a unibody vehicle. They are basically applying old "body on frame" logic to a unibody. The unibody is the frame and cutting it could have unforeseen consequences.

If you are willing to say that you will never compress the suspension and turn the steering wheel at the same time, then you can put a bigger tire on but not very much bigger.

100% agree but I'll add, there seems to be a much better selection of Sport-ute type tires in 17" sizes, though I know he already has the 18's. I'll also add that if you want to push the limit on diameter a little, a 235/70/17 at 30.0" in diameter and narrower would be a good choice or it's equal in 18's the 235/65/18 but the tire selection in both sizes is not great.

I put the Rough Country 1.5" lift on my Outer Banks. I then put these tires on it, General Tire Grabber_UHP255-55-R18 . The tires do clear without rubbing but there is little room. I choose this tire for the loose dirt and sand we drive in. Any other tire of this diameter and width should work as well. I have almost 10,000 miles on the lift kit and have not issues or problems. I hope this helps.

Doesn’t scrub at all, even at extreme angles. Louder than I anticipated though.

If you have the cheaper RC 1.5 lift I would recommend remove the sway bar link drop brackets and order the longer ones from HRG.

I'd choose either 16 or 17 inch wheels and tires for the greater selection and availability of each.
You sort of need something to fill the wheelwells a bit better with that lift and flares.

I went with 245/60/18 falken wildpeak a/t trail. I like the look at the 18s. I'm out mostly pounding pavement, wanted something a little more durable when I go to events and roads up to trailheads. Lost a couple mpg but overall a great riding tire. Nice and quiet on the highway and good wet weather traction. No lift yet, no rubbing at all.
