I enjoy the auto cruise control, and the lane centering, but very much do NOT enjoy getting beeped every few minutes with a message to keep my hands on the wheel---and I HAVE two hands on the wheel! Is there a certain area you must stay in? Is a 10 and 2 position required at all times? Is there any way to simply relax and drive? Any tricks to this?

I believe it just has to sense gentle pressure in the left-right axis. I've tested this a little, and placement doesn't seem to matter. It's more that your natural movements indicate that there's a human at the wheel. I went nearly hands-off (kind of thumb-forefinger encircling the wheel without really touching it) and it got fussy. I've done 3 & 9, 4 & 8, 6 only, and several other single and dual hand placements and it works fine; I just have to have positive control of the wheel.

I just grip the 6 o clock position of the steering wheel with the toes of my left foot and it never beeps me.

yep, just wiggle the steering wheel a bit every now and then, let the computer know you’re alive.

Just be glad you don’t have to click all the squares with crosswalks or bicycles on the infotainment screen every ten minutes.

I like to drive with my elbow resting on the door sill and hand on the "left axis", to quote jkernitzki, you know like Bob Falfa (ain't he neat?). I'll get the warning if I take a finger or two off, and I talk back to her!

Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
I'm glad this question came up! On the 2 road trips i took this summer, this was the most annoying part! I do love the adaptive cruise but no matter where my hands were, even on the right and left, 3 and 9, and 4 and so on, it continued to remind me to keep my hands on the wheel and I keep yelling at it that I am!! ? I think it's too sensitive or it's not sensitive enough to know my hands are on the steering wheel!

It is annoying, agreed, BUT for what it is, it does a pretty good job. I can't think of a better way to design it and still meet the goal.

When it beeps on me, I just grip a bit tighter for a second or two, kinda just have to get the feel for it.

I had a girlfriend back in the day, whom reacted the same way whenever I put my hands on her. Can't win for losing, such is life.
