I wonder how much of this is concentrated in full-size trucks (though the article does state compact crossovers are a large contributor)? With some armchair shopping this morning for the dealers close by the house, it seems everything is full size trucks (granted that’s what sells here). Toyota? 12 tundras. Nothing else. Ford? 106! F-150s. 4x as many as the next model (Bronco Sport with 28, and followed closely by the escape with 21).

Stock levels were depressed for a few years. This doesn't seem like something to get excited about just yet.

If you are in the market for a new vehicle, your bargaining power may be better because of the large inventory. Interest rates probably have a lot to do with this excess also.

I don't doubt it. Our dealer is so stacked with inventory that they don't know what to do with it. Pathways with curbs have turned into parallel parking for Escapes, Broncos, Bronco Sports and F-150s. The only vehicle you won't see, which comes as no surprise, is the Maverick. Every one that comes in is either pre-sold or if it's a stock unit, it's sold within a day or two. But literally the whole rest rest of Ford's lineup is there with plenty to choose from. But with eye-watering MSRPs, poor incentives, and interest rates still high, is it any wonder they're sitting?

Turning on and turning off manufacturing is not as simple as one might think. There’s a lot of moving parts. It takes a while to get it to a manageable level and then something happens that no one expects and it all goes to crap again.

My local Ford dealer has a ton of inventory. What surprised me the most is that they have 6 Mavericks on the lot. I thought those are gone as soon as they hit the lot. They only had 2 Rangers though.

Perhaps the unsold mavericks have a dealer mark up?
No mark up listed on website or in vehicles. Advertised with msrp and a/z plan price. I am assuming they are willing to deal and negotiate even if someone doesn’t qualify for a/z

Maybe people are waiting for the 2025 refresh of the Maverick to hit the dealer lots? Personally, I wouldn’t want to buy the current version knowing a new one has been announced.

Could be. Just surprised to see them sitting there more than anything.

The Chevy dealer across the street had less inventory, which also surprised me. Especially because that dealer is known for doing market adjustments and marking up above msrp.

The closest Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler dealer by me also has a ton of inventory. Doesn’t look like they have sold anything in a long time.

The dealer where i got my BS has 12 Mavericks in stock.I wish i would have looked for a Maverick last December when i got my BS..For some reason i thought the Mavericks were more expensive than the BS but they're cheaper. I found a 2024 Maverick XLT AWD with the 2.0 Eco Boost and the MSRP was $2,000.00 cheaper than my 2023 BS BB was.

My local dealer has 20 Bronco Sports and 34 F-150 on lot. One dealer in Seattle I checked has 82 Bronco Sports on the lot. .... ? ... No wonder we haven't seen the 2025 BS.
