I was planning on buying a 2025 badlands Sasquatch, In researching the reason the 24 model gets 250 H.P and the 25 model only get 238H.P I found that the 25 have a fuel particulate filter. I have a semi and I am very aware of the particulate filters on those, they have to be clean and maintained. There’s a lot of sensors to them if they go out they cost about $4000. There’s a lot of drawbacks to a particular filter so because of this, I think I’m out, do some research on the particulate filters and you will find out what I mean., there is a good video out on YouTube of a guy describing the particulate filter on the Ford maverick 25 year model only happens on the 2 L so far.

From what I have read, the filter is present on vehicles being delivered to states with strict emissions standards. So not every vehicle will have one.

Tim, the guy from Long McArthur Ford who does a lot of weekly YouTube videos on scheduling, updates, etc said in one of his recent videos that the filters were not going to be introduced in the 2.0 motor until Job 3 - sometime around June. I looked through some of his videos to try and find that particular comment so I could link it for you, but couldn't find it. I'll play his videos in the back ground when I am doing something else and see if I can't find it.

Found it. Look at 52:10 in this video. Job 2 (starts in Feb) will put the gas particulate filter on the 1.5 motor, but not on the 2.0 motor - that will be put on starting with Job 3 sometime this summer around June. So if you want to get it without the gas filter, get your 2.0 before this summer.

I don't have any agenda one way or the other but there is a big difference between gasoline and diesel engines. All else equal, diesels produce more particulates.

We have a Sprinter-based RV. MB requires low ash 5W-30 synthetic oil to prolong the life of the particulate filter. I imagine other mfrs are the same. Some early failures may be due to owners using higher ash oil.

Also, low speed/load stop-and-go driving shortens a DPF's life because that prevents "regeneration" (regen) cycles from being run. Regen burns off the accumulated soot but requires full operating temp.

The drop in hp is likely due to the added restriction of the filter, but 250 > 238 hp is just a 5% drop, less than the decrease from running 87 octane fuel. That's far from a deal killer in my mind, but if a person has done their research and has settled on the BS BL, then it makes sense to go ahead and buy one now, before the DPF gets added.

I like breathing clean air as much as the next person, but it seems like we are quickly reaching (or past?) the point of diminishing returns when it comes to pollution controls.

Super Dave in the I received my 2025 Bronco Sport shows pictures of his 2025 Bad Lands 2.0 and it's the MPC engine.

Some more clarification of when the gas filters will be incorporated into production. Starts at 2:06

Did BroncoDon post this for a discussion or just a rant? It seems that the filter is a non issue if he purchases now.

not the GAS particulate filter. not a diesel exhaust fluid system, just some extra filter nonsence
Oh. I changed my question in my original post. Thanks for the clarification.
