I went back & traced the history on this HVAC failure on the Outer Banks. Turns out I got a call from a Ford Service Dept that I normally use wanting to know if I wanted a couple of outstanding Recalls taken care of at my house. They would send out a Mobile Tech to perform the work. That work was scheduled on FRI, AUG 29. When the Mobile Tech arrived, he began performing work under the hood that typically gets done executing THE WORKS service. I asked what he was doing , & stopped him. Told him to address the recalls and leave when he was done.

The next day, SAT, AUG30, the HVAC system no longer cooled. Not saying anything was done intentionally by the Mobile Service Tech, but it's sure is a coincidence. Especially when I factor in a cell phone message I received a couple of weeks earlier from this same dealer wanting to know if I would be interested in selling my Outer Banks to them. If so they would make me a a very generous offer. I replied emphatically 'NO - NOT INTERESTED'. A week later I get a call asking if I wanted a couple of recalls taken care of by Mobile Service. A day after that visit, the HVAC no longer cools in the SUV.

This whole thing has heightened my awareness regarding this HVAC Failure!

Well the Ford Service Tech installed the new HVAC Control Module but the system still only blows hot air. Now they say there is a signal to the Compressor (which didn't exist before) but they suspect the compressor is bad. And according to the Service Dept, the compressor is on back order, so no telling when the Outer Banks get repaired.
The compressor in my ‘22 was replaced a few months ago

That sounds rough! Does the actual button work? When my technician replaced mine something happened to the program and it made it to where I had no ac but all he had to do was reprogram the module and it worked just like it had before

Do you have FORScan or a code reader to see what codes the truck is reporting?

I was told by the Service Advisor that the Service Tech said there was no signal emitting from the HVAC Control Module. Here's what the Service Tech performed during his diagnostics:

'VEHICLE CAME IN WITH THE A/C WAS INOPERATIVE. FDRS HOOK UP AND RETRIEVED FAULT CODES. NO FAULT CODES PRESENT FOR CONCERN. PERFORMED PPT J IN SECTION 412-00. PER SYMPTON DIAGNOSIS, FOR NO INDICATION IN CLIMATE CONTROLS. J1, NO. J2, RESET OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE VIA FDRS. AC STILL INOPERATIVE. J3, YES. J4, NETWORK TESTS ALL PASSED.J5, PERFORMED PID MONITOR ACP PRESSURE. IT MATCHED MANUAL GAUGE. J6, PID MONITOR OF AAT_TEMP, EVAP_TEMP. YES. J7, YES. J8, PID MONITOR CC_SW_AC. NO INDIACATION WHEN AC BUTTON WAS RESSED. J16, YES. REMOVED AND REPLACED HVAC CONTROL MODULE, INTERNAL FAULT. '

Last week I got a call from the Ford Service Advisor that the compressor on back order arrived and they were ready to complete repairs on the HVAC system in the 2021 Bronco Sport. Took the Bronco Sport in on MON, 09/29 for an early service appt. They called me around 4 PM and said everything was working properly and the interior trim I found installed improperly was corrected. Cost me only $100 (Certified Gold Deductible) & I used FordPASS points to cover that cost. (Note: I'm not complaining since I had no out-of-pocket expense but 20,000 points to cover a $100 charge! That's 1/2 cent per point! Ford made the FordPASS points sound like a 'big deal' when they gave me 22,000 points when I bought the SUV! Now I know they gave me $110 deposit to setup my account.) Oh well, glad to have the Bronco Sport back home & fully functional again.

Here's the text the Service Tech put on the Work Order:

'Installed GN1Z 19703 J :COMPRESSOR ASY AFTER CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT THE AC INDICATOR WAS ON IN THE CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE HOWEVER THE COMPRESSOR WOULD NOT COME ON. PER WIRING DIAGRAM CHECKED FOR VOLTAGE AND GROUND AT THE COMPRESSOR CONNECTOR. CONDITIONS WERE CORRECT FOR AC COMPRESSOR TO OPERARTE. REMOVED AND REPLACED AC COMPRESSOR. INOPERATIVE COMPONENT. '

(Note: The AC Indicator on the Control Module was always on even when the system was not cooling.)
