Every time I get a car wash this pice of rubber trim comes out and I have to put it back, what is it, and what is a permanent solution thanks.

There is nothing normally in that gap, unless Ford added it in later model years. Unless the seal from way down below is somehow coming out and you'd know it because of all the wind and water coming in, that's a piece someone added aftermarket. Some people claim filling that gap reduces wind noise. Did you buy used?

Nothing in that position on my ’21 BL. There is a piece of weather strip at the top of that panel, between the panel and the sun/moon??? roof. Looks like you have solid roof so may not be one on yours.

If it is aftermarket, you can take it off. I was selling cars until the economic collapse of 2007, in 2006 the gm bencounters had removed this piece and people were pissed! It appears that now it is a mystery piece.

I believe I read a thread about this. The piece was added to reduce wind noise. Silicone caulking would hold it in nicely, but is really hard to remove later (when you windshield breaks). Silicone also needs to be applied when it is above freeaing

I'd go to a windshied shop and ask them to glue it in with the adhesive they use.
