Pretty sure it is a dye. I ran some oil in my VW from Liqui-Moly that came out of the bottle really green and it does help to find leaks. I can’t remember if it was a black light thing to point out the leak but I don’t think you have anything to worry about. If coolant was in the oil it wouldn’t be green, the whole thing would look foamy and light brown (maybe with a tinge of green in this case).

Is Ford still using the standard green coolant? Sorry, I have had Euro cars since the late 90’s.
Yes, Ford went back to the green coolant

Better than chocolate milk color. Been there before, but luckily not with my BS . I’m thinking some kind of dye.
Yeah, me too in my old Toyota pickup. There was no doubt, every time I started it there was a big white cloud behind me.

Yeah I checked mine today and opened the oil cap and it looked green but didn’t on dipstick. 250 miles here
I couldn't see the green on the dipstick either. I guess if I would have had it changed at the dealer I wouldn't have known.

Have you asked your dealer service dept? I'm guessing dye and/or break in oil. Send a same to Blackstone to be sure. Makes the most sense. Please let us know what Blackstone says.

My Escape only has 2,000 miles on it. I may take some oil from the dipstick tomorrow and smear it on a piece of paper. We have a small black light to look for pet urine stains. If I can find it. Think I know where it is. Will see if the oil fluoresces like it would if it had a dye for leak detection.

It may have been due to how early you changed it and the oil may not have nominal breakdown. Mine was done at 3500 myself and it was what I'd consider dark coffee no irregularities just an oil change. Doesn't hurt to have it tested but that's my guess. It's not common to change oil after 1,000 miles post break in change. Nothing wrong with doing it but the timing may be a simple factor.

I think you're right, If the oil was a bit dirtier, I probably wouldn't have seen the green tint. That being said I'm glad I changed the oil as there were some sparkles at the bottom of the drain pan. I'm not sure if the sparkles are metal or material from production but either way, I'm glad to have them out of there.

Blackstone is sending me a kit; I'll post results after I get them. I'm planning on calling the service dept. on Monday to see if the dye is used on all 2.0's or if it's only used when a vehicle has a leak.

Hmmm. My first change was at 1500 miles, but the oil I drained out of the engine wasn't green (or at least I didn't notice it was green).
Pure speculation on my end. And it's possible your driving conditions/style was more harsh on your oil? A lot of factors. Getting the oil tested is the best path.
