If the problem is the battery - how can they not have materials to implement a recall until Q2 2025? They don't have any batteries?

If I were a suspicious sort, I might think they are intentionally delaying the recall fix in hopes of dodging responsibility. If Ford waits long enough, people's batteries will begin to die and they'll have no choice but to buy a new one to get the vehicle on the road again.

Then, later, when the recall fix finally implements, Ford gives you the "oooo....so sorry....this is not the original battery therefore not covered under the recall. Thanks for fixing our problem for us."

But I'm sure that's just the conspiracy side of my brain thinking

I think Dude and DWG have the probable answer back earlier in this thread:
My guess is Ford is pushing the Chinese battery supplier (manufacturer of the batteries stated in recall 25S02) to fix the design and manufacturing issues, build the good batteries and put them into the supply chain. Likely Ford would not eat the full cost of the recall. But in this case was EFB batteries that mostly failed so… will Ford install replacement AGM Batteries? Probably … so Maybe was a negotiated plan between Ford and the battery manufacturer to ramp up production of an AGM Battery. Only Ford knows why there is the delay.
As Dude said I am thinking that for the recall the batteries are coming from the same supplier as the defective battery because I am not aware of an AGM battery shortage at this time. My EFB battery was tested and failed in early January and was replaced with the AGM battery. Not part of the recall. Also Ford Parts website shows the battery for a 23 Bronco Sport will be delivered in 1 or 2 business days if purchasing now.

Vehicle Battery
Part #: BAGM48H6760 (BAGM48H6760)

Usage: 70 AH, 760 Amp, 10/26/2020, BRONCO SPORT (C430N)
Section:Battery and Mountings
This part will be available within 1-2 business days.
Pick up only
Cheers!

I have a '21 Sport, about a month ago the battery completely died overnight, still able to jumpstart and drive it to an AutoZone. Getting that battery out was a PITA (manual has you basically disassemble engine bay) but I replaced it and no problems since. Too bad the recall came out after.

My stepdad and I did not know what we were in for last year when we replaced my battery. Could not believe how much they make you dismantle the front end just to get the battery out.

Anything to convince you to take it to their dealerships, I suppose.

Should be much easier for you next time… I watched a Ford mobile tech change the battery in my garage. Took him about 15 minutes and during that time also explained the steps of how to change the battery. He did not perform the BMS Reset procedure so I did that as soon as he left.

Only if your battery is one of the defective ones with Part number LX6T-10655-FA. The number is on top of the battery, easily visible.
oh oh!!!

I just checked my battery and I got a LX6T-10655!! (22 Badland born on 2022 4th of July)

I have recieved a recall notice months ago and they checked my battery. appeared to be ok. I also got a simple battery load tester and it seems Ok. Tho...if I parked the car for a few days, then I plug on a trickle charger/maintainer, the indicator on the charger show it was at "80%". it took maybe 8+ hrs before it was shown charged to full again.

I have not received another recall, yet. I'm tempting to just buy an AGM battery myself and get it over with. but it ain't cheap, seems like they should be giving me a new battery.

Do you have less than 36k miles and still under the factory warranty?

@WildFord .. sounds like your ‘22 Badlands is still in warranty if vehicle purchased new 7/4/2022 and currently at 23k miles … if your battery fails it’s replaced free under the factory warranty. A replacement battery under the factory warranty doesn’t get a new warranty - the replacement battery would be warrantied up to the original 3yr / 36k factory warranty same as the vehicle.

However … if Ford replaces the battery under Recall 25S02, you may get a longer warranty - we don’t know because Ford has not provided any details for 25S02.

My wife's 2021 BB died in our driveway yesterday. She took our cat to the vet & came back home, when we tried 10 minutes later the truck was completely dead. We were able to jump start it & drive it to the local dealer. They recommended the AGM battery since our BS had the EFM battery. We will wait & see what the outcome of the battery recall will be if they will reimburse us for a new battery since our BS has almost 50K miles.

So the Dealer replaced the Battery with the AGM Battery? Was your BB on the Recall List? If so why did you have to pay for the Battery?

Ford states in the recall letter they do not have a "fix" for it yet, whether it is a battery or a software update who knows. In the letter Ford states the "fix" will be available in the 2nd quarter of this year. If the recall does turn out to be replacing the battery I should be reimbursed.

My question was did you get a New Battery if so from where? Or is your BS still sitting at the Dealership?

I am sorry I misread your response, yes, we had the battery replaced, but we had to pay for it & will be reimbursed if battery replacement is the remedy from Ford. We are out of the 3/36-mile warranty.

Just for clarity this recall is for a defective battery. It is not the BCM/PCM recall 24S24 which should have already been completed that was for a software issue. There is no mention of software in the customer recall notice.

As Dude and I mentioned in posts 96 and 97 it seems that the reason for not having parts (AGM batteries) available until the 2nd QTR 2025 is so the battery manufacturer can build a sufficient supply of batteries so that the recall is not affecting the normal dealer stock of the AGM battery. Your comment that the local dealer recommended the AGM battery seems to reinforce that the normal AGM battery inventory is not affected by the recall since Ford seems to be waiting for additional supply of batteries before moving forward with the recall.

Since you needed to have your battery replaced now I would contact Ford Customer Service and ask them what the procedure is to get reimbursed for replacing the battery with an AGM battery. The worst they can say is to wait until the 2nd Qtr of 2025.

Customer Recall Notice: RIONL-25V019-3164.pdf

The NHTSA recall report page 4 indicates that if there is not an AGM battery present it will be replaced with an AGM battery and if the owner had the battery at their own expense they are eligible to be reimbursed for their expense.
