Rockauto has 12-filter Sell Packs of Motorcraft filters. Great price.
I love RockAuto. They've never failed me on price or delivery. Always expedient.

I'm also in Fords from 30 years of VW/Audi. Much better paying for Motorcraft filters! :)

Under the heading, "Everyone has a story", mine is that I never had a problem with RockAuto -- until I did. I was working on my sister's 1991 Lincoln Town Car. It was in amazingly good condition for being about 25+ years old (at the time) but needed some front end parts. I've been working on cars for over 45 years -- I ordered the correct parts -- they sent the wrong parts. When we called to exchange the parts (or get a refund) they did not deny that the parts were incorrect, they just told us to pound sand.

I was really amazed at the attitude of the CSR. She tried too blame the incorrect parts on the supplier. Regardless, it was not OUR fault! The CSR absolutely refused to do anything for us -- and would not let us speak to her supervisor (that was a first).

I had to get a friend of ours who spent decades in the corporate world involved. He was able to find the names and email addresses of the top execs of RockAuto in the Wisconsin State Journal. I contacted one of the VP's. He was shocked that I had his personal email address, and gave me a refund.

That was WAY too much trouble for a simple mix-up on their end. I never ordered from them again.

RockAuto does have good prices. It's probably safe to buy basic stuff like oil filters from them. If they had not jerked us around, I'd still do business with them, but I do not want to reward sleazy business practices.

Looping back to this thread, it looks like at least where I am, full synthetic is up to $89.99 plus tax at Ford....

...versus 10 quarts of Kirkland Signature Full Synthetic being on sale for $31.99 at Costco right now... Call it six bucks for a filter and you're out for under $40.

Valvoline is $100 without a groupon, $62 with groupon for full synthetic, about $80 by the time you add the additional ~quart plus tax on that. Valvoline has the perk of automatically reporting to CARFAX to prove that the oil was changed (your local dealer might too, but mine doesn't.)

I did hear after some research that the oil extraction (evac) at least on the 2.7L Ecoboost used in the non-Sport Bronco doesn't really work because the chamber that the dipstick goes in misses about 2 quarts of oil, and the only proper way to do it for that engine is to drain it. I can't find any research on that for the 2.0L twin scroll in the BS BL. When the time for the next oil change comes around, I'm going to call my service guy at the local dealer (who I have a lot of trust in and he also owns a BS) and ask if they drain or evac the Bronco Sport and his opinion on oil extraction for this car/engine.

Ten (10) quarts for $32?! That's an all-time low (AFAIK). If you round up to 6 quarts x $3.20 = ~$19, plus $6 for the filter, that's just $25!

Here are some other options -- although there's probably no point in paying more for Amazon's oil (or perhaps the others):

-- $26/5 qt., IDK who makes Amazon's oil though:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Full-Synthetic-Motor-dexos1-Gen2/dp/B07C5FF8R5/

Also Quaker State -- $23/5 qt..:
https://www.amazon.com/Quaker-State-Synthetic-5-Quart-Single/dp/B00RRI66L0/?th=1

I saw Mobil 1 for as low as $29/5 qt.. That's what I used back in March (we paid $32) but any full synthetic that meets or exceeds API-SP specs should be at least as good as the Motorcraft synthetic blend.

I understand that oil extraction is pretty common. Personally, I like the idea of draining the oil and getting just about every last drop out (I usually go do something else while it drains). I imagine it doesn't matter much though if extraction leaves a couple ounces of old oil.

I agree that leaving a couple ounces of old oil doesn't matter once the engine has gone through the break-in phase. When the engine is still new however, I like to get rid of all the sparkly tid bits that I see in the bottom of the black drain pan.

Kirkland Signature is made by Warren Distribution, same as Walmart Supertech and the Amazon Oil you linked... some say Mobil1, Valvoline, etc. have better proprietary packs, others say if it's full synth of spec, no worries.
I think you can consider $32*2=$64 for 20 quarts / 5.5-6.6 qts per oil change (depending on engine size) = either 1.5L or 2.0L that's three oil changes. $64/3 = $21.3333333.... = $22 per oil change rounded up for the oil itself. Add $6 for filter and that's $28 per oil change.

Certainly gives some greater economics to doing the oil change yourself... of course disposal of the used engine oil and the time/having to get on your back are factors.

I like to rely on data. Blackstone Laboratories has offered oil analysis services since 1985. As you can imagine, fleet operators looking for an edge would benefit greatly from information about which oil is "best," and a lab conducting oil analysis would probably have the data to answer that question. The answer is there is no "best" oil brand. Their only recommendations regarding oil has to do with additives that interfere with effective analysis, so if you plan to have your oil regularly analyzed you might want to avoid oils with those additives. Other than that, there is no significant difference between brands as regards oil lubricity, which is quantified by the amount of wear metals in used oil.

The link above is to an article on Blackstone Labs' website with an overview. If you want to read the nitty-gritty details click here.

In New York State if they sell oil, I believe they have to take the used oil to recycle. I'm sure Advance auto does, I go there all the time. I don't even buy my oil there. Wallmart is much cheaper.

Absolutely, good point.

Personally, I'll just keep draining the oil the old fashioned way. If I was doing it more often I'd consider pumping it out.

I performed my 1st oil change today. Easy. Brand new car so everything was clean! I was going to take it Ford but they couldn't get me in for 10 days. No quick lane here in Aberdeen SD. I was thinking all those bolts/screws/plastic push things were going to be a pain so Ford could do it.
O'Reilly's: 6qt Motorcraft oil, oil filter = $59.97. Not all that cheap.

I have drive up ramps. Laid down a large piece of cardboard and crawled under. Loosened the 2 bolts in the back only. Removed the 4 Torx screws holding down a liner on the front portion. Removed the last 4 bolts carefully. I slid the skid plate forward under the liner so the slotted part of the plate released from the rear 2 bolts that I loosened earlier. Moved plate rear-ward and put on ground. The plate is a little heavy but not too much. All the bolts/screws (no plastic push things) are all reachable without having to slide all around underneath. The oil pan bolt and oil filter are pretty close together and thats nice. I took off the oil filler cap on top of the engine. I removed the bolt from the oil pan and drained my oil into the oil "bucket". I then slid the bucket a little forward and unscrewed the oil filter enough for the oil to slide down the filter and land in the bucket. No oil hit the liner.

Replaced plug. Put on new filter. Wiped everything down. Added oil on top with no engine cover to get in the way! Drove around a few blocks to see if I had any leaks then replaced the skid plate. All pretty easy and pretty clean.

At almost $60 in "stuff" I'd be curious how much Ford would charge. Might be worth it to use them. They "should" know what they're doing and if they don't they're Ford-they can fix it. No waste oil or filter. No oil running down your arm. No garage clean up.

vic
Hi Vic, I had my first oil change a couple of weeks ago at my local ( small) dealer that I bought my bl from. I had inspection done locally 6 month earlier as I for got and was about the take an out of state trip in Bs.
I had to book a 'while you wait' appointment , and I wanted to get on record with the dealer. Took about an hour and ran a little over$100 with out and discounts. Once I started buying new vehicule about 20 years ago I let others change my oil. I have total confidence in the dealer and the 2 local independent shops I have used regularly for 30 yrs. they will get my business after this as also way cheaper.

A 10 day vacation touring around Florida put me at 6K miles. 2nd oil change was a piece of cake. Used "regular" Pennzoil Platinum at 1K just to flush out the factory oil and that green dye...but will be using "ultra" Platinum from here on out. I really don't notice anything more or less difficult with the drain plug than any other car I've changed the oil in.

Ford Bronco Sport First Oil Change Thoughts on 2.0L EcoBoost Engine IMG_4968

Side note: Had a much better chance to inspect the oil this time with no green dye. I will say that I don't really notice a fuel smell like others have commented. I do religiously put 93 in though. Not sure if that aids in the burn off. I know I don't have to. But I go to Costco, and they only have two options...87 and 93. And I just feel more comfortable doing 93.
