Good morning! I recently had my car looked at by pep boys and they informed me I have a damaged flex pipe(it sounds like I’m driving a dirk bike lmao) I have 2021 just turned 52k miles, and have had no powertrain issues until now. I was just curious if anybody had dealt with this issue?
Also, curious if this would fall under 60k powertrain warranty? Since this piece is directly connected to my catalytic converter I am having my local Ford dealership address this issue(even if it’s the worst customer service ever) any info on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

What do you mean by damaged? Is it cracked, or look like it was hit? Not powertrain related AFAIK. If it is part of the cat converter & not just bolted to the cat converter it should be covered by the cat converter warranty. Also, if you do not like the service you are getting from your dealer try a different one. Our local dealer gives us great service even though we did not buy it from them.

I would think it should be covered under the emmissions warranty because the flex pipe is part of the catalytic converter assembly and has failed according to your loud exhaust description.
Though some dealers play the denial game and will not submit any emmissions warranty claim if there is not a check engine light or subsequent emmission related codes.
Also if the damage is due to an accident or misuse replacement would be denied.
In your case, you'll find out if "the worst customer service dealer ever" will fix you up or not.

Why are they saying your flex pipe is damaged? I had a rattling sound from my rear area that would stop when I put pressure on the tail pipe. The grumpy service advisor said it was my flex pipe but she also said they were replacing my compressor when I brought it in for low coolant. I didn't care either way, as long as they fixed it.

When I left, my left tailpipe was bent. I brought it back and a different service advisor said they didn't touch the flex pipe but only replaced a bolt. He said Ford used the wrong one which caused it to rattle.

Either way, if it's not covered by Ford's warranty, I would just take it to a muffler shop and have them fix it. They're normally very good and less expensive than other mechanics.
