Which is why when I lived in Florida I did my own repairs and kept spare motors and caps on hand. I’m also EPA certified so I could buy my own refrigerant.

I recently called my local HVAC folks to tell them that I think I need a new air conditioner. They checked it out and said that I have a slight coolant leak. Unless it gets worse, they suggested that I simply replace the coolant and not incur the expense of a new air conditioner. I've used this company's services for several years and trust them implicitly to handle any problems. They key is to find services, often recommended by neighbors, develop an ongoing relationship with them. It's worth the effort to develop your own network of folks you trust and can count on. My plumber came on a day off to check out a problem I had. It's all about relationships. That’s a huge problem with hvac services right now I’ve heard. I wanted to get into hvac and a family friend explained to me that unless it’s union your essentially a salesman and have quotas you have to meet etc. it’s a shame, always feeling like someone’s trying to rip me off cause I’m so willing to pay what they want if it’s a legitimate purchase now I feel all paranoid all the time.
I'm about to get my second replacement next week. Glass insurance is optional. I bought it with the 200.00 deductible. 1800.00 Canadian for a Badlands windshield!!When I purchased my BS in February of 2022, my dealership said they would replace the windshield once in the first year if I received any chips or cracks. Well, 15 months later, I have a crack almost all the way across the lower part of the winshield. Not sure if this was a dealer thing or a Ford thing. Haven't approached them yet.
I imagine that may be a dealership thing cause when I contacted Ford they just directed me to a body shop that was ford approved. That shop quoted me $1100 saying that even a 4 inch crack requires a full replacement cause it also needs to be calibrated, but Safelite is telling me if it’s smaller than a dollar bill it can be repaired so idk who to believe anymore ?When I purchased my BS in February of 2022, my dealership said they would replace the windshield once in the first year if I received any chips or cracks. Yeah I’m definitely expecting them to say never mind this ain’t doable when they show up on Wednesday. I even double checked with them yesterday and they made sure to repeat if it’s smaller than a dollar bill it’s repairable. I’ll keep y’all updatedI’d be skeptical that they can fix a six inch crack. Star chips are easy, the area is evacuated with a vacuum and then replaced with a crazy glue type sealant. The trick is evacuating the space. Typically larger than two inches is a no go but maybe things have changed in the past few years.
God damn 1800?? I was quoted $1100 here in the pnw and thought that was rough. They said something about it requiring a calibration which added to the cost.I'm about to get my second replacement next week. Glass insurance is optional. When I contacted Ford they directed me to ford approved body shops that could fix it. May be worth a try? Idk for sure. That sucks though! I drove a Toyota Corolla for 70k miles and never had the window chip once so I’m kinda bummed this seems to be an issue hahaMy windshield chip went from a star to a foot-long crack before I even finished driving home (40 minutes) and eventually spread halfway across the windshield — it’s even longer now than this photo shows.
I’m in the process of trying to find a place I can trust to replace it with factory glass, but I’m having trouble getting recommendations that don’t just focus on how cheap a place is. My insurance has glass coverage with no deductible.![]()
Pretty crazy, heated wiper park, rain sensor and yes calibration for sensors. Our very weak dollar doesn't help!God damn 1800?? I was quoted $1100 here in the pnw and thought that was rough. They said something about it requiring a calibration which added to the cost.
I did ask the local Ford dealer and got the name of the glass company they use. I’ll give them a call and see if they do OEM glass. When I contacted Ford they directed me to ford approved body shops that could fix it. May be worth a try? Idk for sure. That sucks though! IMO, your better off, as some of the aftermarket glass is not as good as OEM, and might be missing the top tint.2021 Badlands. Here in SoCal I had to wait 2+ weeks for a windshield.
They told me no aftermarket replacements are available so had to wait for a Ford OEM.
