Hey guys, can anyone who has the charger cubby OEM ambient light take night Pic, looking to see how much light the OEM light puts out, I've search but can't find any night shots of that area.
Thank you.

there isn't any in the charger spot. from what I have seen its floors and door handles I was kind of disappointed, the wife's 2019 has way more including light up rings around the cup holders and such and she can change the colors.Hey guys, can anyone who has the charger cubby OEM ambient light take night Pic, looking to see how much light the OEM light puts out, I've search but can't find any night shots of that area.

There was a light on the early models in that area, I have a 24 and there is still a slit in the tray where the light used to be, I believe it was one of the things Ford removed.there isn't any in the charger spot. from what I have seen its floors and door handles I was kind of disappointed, the wife's 2019 has way more including light up rings around the cup holders and such and she can change the colors.
could you share that part number? i wouldn't mind adding that feature if possible. Thanks, I already have the part and was planning on installing it this weekend, doing just what you said, splicing into the cup holders. I just wanted to know if it was worthwhile with how much light it it gave in the cubby area.
I won an auction on ebay for the whole charging tray, with lighted USB ports, 12v outlet, cubby light (with the LED) and wireless charger for $38.
I don't like that area being so dark.
I don't have a part number, I just found one of these on e-bay, most I have seen do not come with the LED, I got lucky and found one with everything I needed you just have to keep searching ir buy one of the parts that Glamdring70 posted a couple of posts back.could you share that part number? i wouldn't mind adding that feature if possible.
I've already been in there to add the cup holders/lights, mine had the standoffs in the plastic and the slit for the lens, but no lens or LED.I think every Sport has that lens installed. Even my Badlands has that much... but no LED module. I looked at putting one in once upon a time. It was easier to just get one that plugs into the USB or 12v. You can even get ringed or pass-thru ones so that you don't lose the plug if you use them all. This was the part I ordered, or tried to order. The local Ford dealer was... difficult about ordering the part. What I got was another lens and no LED, but the parts guy said everyone was curious about it and the bag had a hole. So maybe it was just a part monkey victim.
If you already added the cupholder, I bet you could splice that in too. Not a large draw amp speaking.

interesting, I was actually quite disappointed with eh "Ambiant lighting" when I turned it on at night. I don't mind the amount it outs out, it is a nice glow in the foot area and the door handles but like you the fact the cupholders and storage/charging tray were not lit up were disappointing as well as not being able to change the colors like every other ford ambient lighting setup I have seen. There was a light on the early models in that area, I have a 24 and there is still a slit in the tray where the light used to be, I believe it was one of the things Ford removed.
Mine did not come with lighted cup holders, but with the help of this forum i now have Explorer lighted cup holders.

Which wires did you splice into for the illuminated cup holders? There was a light on the early models in that area, I have a 24 and there is still a slit in the tray where the light used to be, I believe it was one of the things Ford removed.

Spliced into the passenger side footwell lights, if I remember correctly the wires on the explorer cup holders are the same colors as the cup holders.Which wires did you splice into for the illuminated cup holders?
Mine lacks footwell lighting, the connector has three wires, positive, negative, and ?? whatever the third wire does.Spliced into the passenger side footwell lights, if I remember correctly the wires on the explorer cup holders are the same colors as the cup holders.
This forum has a great write up.
