I know name brands have lesser impact and lessened meaning. But I bought a Schumacher for the nameplate. That equipment has never failed me. I can totally see how a no-brand $20 piece could be over-spec'd or under-built. Power supplies are the finickiest of things in every device there is.

My full-size charger is a Schumacher. I started using Battery-Tenders on my motorcycle during the winter as my batteries were only lasting 3 years or so without. When I got my 95 Lightning, I used one on that quite a bit and I was getting 10 plus years on a battery for that. I had it 25 years and was on my 3rd battery. I would agree that Schumacher is a good name in battery chargers but I’ve had pretty good luck with my Battery-Tender branded tenders.

Too bad there's no opening in front to add an external jack in the grill area that I can see.

Made worse by the battery being so far back. The one on my Lexus slips between the hood, grill, and headlight perfectly. I leave the one for the sport just sitting inside the engine compartment.

I use the ring terminal harness and a quick disconnect/connect with built in fuse. No alligator clips.

It works well the way it is in many of my vehicles but what you posted is interesting.

I don't think this was the thread
but has some of the same concerns
pic related
something about interfering with the shunted connection
may have consequences
safer to avoid that shunting process
all I can use as a comparison would be an ammeter shunt
wiring at that battery post may be bypassing the shunt process
only guess work on my part

but still not the thread I'm looking for

I'll take a look tomorrow. The ground I believe you posted about has a wire from the battery.

yeah I'll have to refresh my memory on this one
something about which side of the shunt the ground wire is connected
between battery and shunt or on opposite side of shunt
I went with the frame grounding lug
which if I recall is straight connect to neg battery post circumventing shunt

I just looked and my battery Tender negative wire is connected to the battery's negative post clamp. :)

The negative terminal needs to be connected to the ground on the fender. This allows the BCM to function properly. At least this is how it operates on my 2018 F-150 which I assume is how the the Bronco BCM operates also. This lets the BCM see the tender in operation. There is a current monitor between battery negative and chassis ground.

Ok, I moved the ground to the Redline strut bracket in the second pic and the battery tender is working. I didn't want to mess or add it the the ground on the first pic. I also didn't know if it would mess with the BCM function.
Oh and I did put that clip in the first pic back in place

I did the same. No way I would ever use the alligator clips on the Battery Tender. My cable just isn't long enough to reach out to the front. (no comments from the peanut gallery!)
