As I noted in another thread, my battery was dead Christmas morning, jumped it, drove it to recharge. Next day dead. Ford Roadside came and jumped. It's been fine until this morning. DEAD. Just bought a Duralast Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group Size 48 760 CCA H6-AGM that I'll pick up at AutoZone later (after I jump the current one, again). Will AutoZone install for me? I know removing air intake (or something) is required and I did search here already and didn't find it specifically if anyone has had luck with them doing the work.

I just had the same issue with my battery and I replaced it at a local Autozone (in Mexico), they did change it for free, took us 3 hours to do the change and even the store manager had to jump in to help us (myself and the autozone associate)

Before you have the battery installed by Auto Zone make sure that they can reboot all the systems in your BS. A friend of mine who is an Interstate Battery dealer told me that some cars require a reboot of some sort after a battery is replaced. Did you check to see how much a new battery and installation will cost from the dealer?

I bought a new battery recently at Advance Auto. They refused to install it because you need to completely remove the air filter box and move around some cables.

So I did the install on my Badlands. Took about 1 hour.

And you need to reset the "battery usage" settings.

I documented the procedure for my badlands, it's posted here some where.

Reset the battery usage is also posted here somewhere. It's a combination of brake pedal pushing and headlight blinks and it will report the reset on the dash.

It took 3 people 3 hours to swap a battery?

There is a battery management reset procedure that needs to be done after changing a battery in these new cars. steps have been mentioned in multiple threads on here

So, as others have mentioned Autozone would not install the battery. Luckily there was a Jiffy Lube in the same shopping center and I had left my BS running. It was super quick for the install at Jiffy Lube. I did the highbeam/brake thing to reset the whatever system tool. Auto Start/Stop light now comes on which it hasn't for a few weeks. The new battery has a 4 year warranty, as well.

My EFB Battery failed last summer, Ford Tech (mobile service) didn’t bother to test the EFB until that night back at the dealership and swapped in the Motorcraft AGM Battery under warranty.

Took him maybe 15 minutes total and that’s while he was explaining the steps to me. He didn’t perform the BMS Reset so I did it, here’s the procedure from the Owners Manual:

As we were not aware of everything that had to me unmounted, yes it took us quite a while. I did not have to reset anything, the Autozone guys plugged in a device in the car cigarette lighter and apparently it prevented any issues from happening.

Nonetheless what Autozon did, BMS Reset is something that should be done after a battery change - see owners manual for why

The "reset" of the battery is simply telling the Computer how to charge and handle the NEW battery. Being new, it may not need charged as much as your old battery did. Look in the Owners Manual and be sure you do this. It is simple and takes about 10 minutes if you do it right. You can do it.

@sajohnson where do you see about them reimbursing for battery replacement? The verbiage I received via the app says nothing about that.
“Campaign/NHTSA#

Issue Date

Description
On your vehicle, the 12-VOLT battery may experience internal weld and or cast-on-strap failures, which could lead to a sudden battery degradation while driving.
Safety Risk
If the battery suddenly degrades during a drive, your vehicle may be unable to restart after an auto stopstart event or experience a stall while coming to a stop at low speed. Either of these conditions may be accompanied by a loss of electrical accessories, including hazard lights. A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash. When the remedy is available, Ford Motor Company will send a letter to inform you to contact your dealer to schedule a repair. Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle under this safety recall. When the remedy is available, you should contact your dealer for an appointment to have your vehicle remedied as soon as practicable.
Remedy
Parts are not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available Q2 2025.”

Now you're asking me to use my memory.

<Later> OK, I found it:

"Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have their vehicle inspected for the presence of a Ford Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) 12V battery. If there is not a Ford AGM battery present, one will be installed. There will be no charge for this service.

Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2023. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accordance with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA."

The word "may" is a bit concerning, but if Ford's past action is any guide, there's a good chance that owners who have already replaced their OE battery will be compensated.

I’ve already replaced my OE battery. My dealer said to contact them when I receive then recall notice; Ford SHOULD reimburse me for battery (installed by dealer, so Ford battery which I paid for).
