So some people are upset they didn't get and engine cover... I am just happy we got our car. So I went to Ford Dealer and bought the parts - seems to fit ok. Here's the list:

I used 1 of each of these parts:
K2GZ6A949A - COVER - $98
AA5Z6N958A - STUD (BAL) - $16.03
W520201S450B - NUT AND WASHER - $6.83
W714647S450B - STUD $3.68

I was able to get some discount, my total was like $107 with tax but I had to buy some extra parts. So here's my comments on the parts:

K2GZ6A949A
This is a foam cover - there are places for 2 ball studs that are incorporated into the Air intake that snap into the bottom of the cover.

AA5Z6N958A
This is a ball stud that screws into one of the brass inserts on the Cam cover

W520201S450B
This is a nut washer combo part - it is only 1 part. Sold in packs of 4, but the dealer had 1 so they let me buy 1. You could but this from Home depot I am sure. You could but a separate nut and washer.

W714647S450B - STUD $3.68
This is an integrated fastener, with a washer and a nut washer - this attached to the CAM cover on a molded in brass insert - the nut/washer part goes on here after the cover and provides the 4th attachment point.

I had to buy 4 of these - I have 3, if anyone wants 1 let me know I'll mail for $6 - including shipping.

I'll post some pictures later when I actually put it on.

I'm more upset about the folding headrests. I'll actually consider ordering the folding one parts if I can. Having to pull the headrests and stick them on the floor every time I fold the seats down in my Focus is my biggest pet peeve.

You just need the 2 outside head rests right? Do you know the part # for the head rests for the black cloth seats?

I'm assuming some of this would be different for the 1.5

How bad does it look without them? I took the ones out of my Escape and I haven’t missed them in 15 years.

Dumb question...what are the benefits of the engine cover? Neither my old mustang nor mariner have one. Wouldnt a hood liner be more beneficial?

Nothing to do with looks. Rear passengers can break their necks in an accident without them. But an issue if you never have rear passengers though.

maybe some noise - mostly looks. - I just wanted an easy mod for my kid - that would have some appeal.

The OuterBanks are not coming with a hood insulator - thats more important I think

I’m guessing/speculating without any technical data at all.
These small turbo engines may benefit ever so slightly with some heat held near the head of the engine.
maybe full hood insulation is too far above the top of the engine?
I’m basing this solely on me remembering how important it was to wrap headers with heat resistant insulation back in the day. Doing that held more heat inside for faster exhaust evacuation and this helped clear the combustion chamber of exhaust gasses to make room for more fuel and air entering on the intake cycle.
More likely it was the cost and or material shortages.

Mine have been missing from my Escape for 15 years. But as you say, my back seat is basically down permanently. Most of my rear seat passengers which is rarely, are kids that heads are below the top of the seat anyways even in the booster seat. Mine will join the collection in the basement.
