Love it or hate it, I've notice that throughout the winter this option doesn't activate. Just curious when I read this message "engine on due to vehicle charging" is there

Sounds like battery voltage may have dropped a little.

If you're concerned, you could always head to the dealer (or anywhere else that does it) and have your battery tested.

That can happen. Overall, cold weather is tough on batteries.

I wouldn't worry too much unless this also happens as the weather warms up.

He could but unless his dealer is right across the street from his house he'll probably recharge the battery by the time he pulls into the service bay.

Might be a loose battery cable preventing the battery from being a full charge.

Might just be something as simple as running the defroster. Owners manual page 160

Thought I had read somewhere it is a feature that may go inactive if there is a substantial draw on the electrical system... examples of winter driving electrical draw .....heat blower, window defrosters, lights

I'll call the dealer on Monday...btw, everything is running AOK and the readout when driving states that "all is working normally", until I stop and then I get the message from auto start/stop. I did try with no systems running...same result. Thanks everyone.

Per Major Kong's post, it's winter and the truck has to stay on to keep the interior temp comfortable. Just like plugging in a night light will also stop it from working.

You're all good, but if you want to go to a dealer for fun, go for it.. lol

Yep. It's doing what it's supposed to do (barring any other issue, of course). Folks Corsair did that in the fall up north (heat/heated seats/defroster - any load at all, or NO load, just below about 20F) caused it to burp up. Back down South and *presto* - no more message.

Izzat something I gotta buy or izzit onboard already.
If not how much izzit,
Can’t I take it in and ask Ford to permanently turn off auto start/stop ????

No, per the message displayed, the engine is on to charge the battery. If it was due to outside air temp, climate, etc, that would be the message displayed. The battery is lower than it should be, which precludes the start-stop function from operating.
