Anyone running 5w-30 in warm environments? My other two Fords run 5w-30. Hate buying that 6th quart of 5w-20 for the 1.5 oil change and prefer to just keep 5w-30 on hand for all vehicles.

If only you used the metric system, we can buy 5L jugs. (In fact now I will only buy the BS oil from suppliers that pack it in 5L)

I want to say it won't hurt, and it probably won't, but there was a reason Ford changed it after learnings on earlier Ecoboost engines.

Given that’s the mfr’s recommended weight for the majority of applications, that’s what I go with. I do opt for full syn, though it’s not required.

I was suggested to use a higher weight in one of my older cars when I was losing oil. I believe the thought was it was slipping past the piston rings and they thought the heavier weight would prevent that.

That tells me a heavier weight oil might not run as smoothly in an engine with tight tolerances. Personally, I wouldn't risk it if everything's working fine.

My understanding is the extremely light weight oils are to get the max mileage. So not to be penalized because of the CAFE standards. Same motor in another country with less strict regulations would run a higher weight oil.

I'm getting 7.6 L to 100 K highway driving and about 8 driving around.

That's my understanding too. So the logical question would be... what oil does Ford recommend for Bronco Sports sold overseas? (Or are they not sold overseas?)

They’re also sold in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Columbia. AFAIK, 5W-30 is the standard weight recommended globally, with 0W-30 recommended for extremely cold climates.

Should / could you use something other than 0-20 ??
Best answer I have seen came from The Car Care Nut...
He said..." Will your car run OK on oil different from that specified by manufacturer ?"
" Do you wanna find out?"

Fog .

I run the Mobile One 5w-30 full synthetic here in Cancun Mexico because it’s warm/hot year around with no issues.

The 2.0L uses 5w30. The 1.5L 5w20.
