I have a new Bronco Sport Badlands. The weather has been mostly cool here, but we've had a couple of sunny days that made the interior of the car very warm. The air conditioning does not work regardless of the settings.

It will go to the shop in a couple of weeks under warranty, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced a similar problem.

Yeah, I guess they didn't think I would need my A/C much in February. I've had problems getting in either of the shops here in Knoxville on other issues with my Mustang. They are always running behind, it seems.

My air conditioner works even at 120 degrees. I've tested it.

What was the ambient outside temperature when you turned on the AC? And what AC temp setting did you set the Bronco Sport control to?

I don't know what system the Bronco Sport has, but A/C evaporator and condensor problems are very common on the Mustang forum. My 2017 Mustang's A/C went out the first year and was replaced under warranty. Ford A/C components are evidently not very reliable.

Ambient temperature was about 63, no wind, full sun, with a black roof. Interior was well into the 80's.

The A/C was set to LO and was blowing hot air. I surrendered and rolled the windows down until it was a reasonable temperature inside.

I have not heard of anyone else with a Bronco Sport having A/C problems. Hopefully, it is just something simple, or at worst, a very uncommon problem.

I have had problems with A/C on a 2000 Escort and a 2007 Freestar, so there have been problems in the past.

At 16,000 miles I had the same problem although on one occasion my interior was 100 degrees from sitting outside I could not get the air to cool interior with my German Shepard in the back cab. At coldest setting it blew warm air. My local ford dealer service manager told me if temp outside is 70 or less it may not cool. I told him that’s a no go I should be able to override manually. To date they cannot figure it out. They replaced the compressor, refrigerant and the relays. It happened again while transporting my German Shepard. Blew warm air regardless temp manually set to lowest setting. I have complained again. They said they cannot look at it until spring when temp is above 70. Crazy huh.

That is a scenario I was afraid of. I can see blending cool ambient air to get the inside temperature down, along with the A/C. That would actually be pretty good engineering. I had the same experience you did though; nothing but warm air. The interior temperature should be independent of exterior temperature. I have two other Fords and a Honda Pilot that cool when I turn on the A/C. The Bronco Sport should do the same.

I'll post the results of my visit to the dealership. Hopefully, it can be of some benefit.

I bet you're out of coolant
You may very well be right. It exhibits all the signs with a couple of exceptions. Twice this week it felt like the A/C was almost cool. When I went parked it and let it sit a minute it wouldn't cool at all after restarting. Maybe extremely low?

Following up on my air conditioner problem; it had a leaky low-side Schrader valve. They filled it up and checked it, found the problem, and repaired it under warranty.

They provided me a rental car while it was in the shop. I chose a Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi. It was fun for about a day, but I was never so glad to get the Bronco Sport back! Loud pipes are vastly overrated.
