Larger dealerships will typically have more dealer allocation but they also have more customers so dealership size should not make a difference.

In the "Waiting Room" thread today, someone talked to Ford Customer Relations today with an order date in late '21 and was told the size of their dealership was the reason their BS has not been built.

Which strikes me as weird since I ordered from a smaller dealership and got a build date two weeks after the order.

As a Ford Sales and Marketing retiree (40 years) that makes no sense to me ?‍♀

Conjecture is all any of use have on this one.
As for hard data there is none, the public can only guess.
Why does my very low volume small town dealer seem to have no problems with special orders ?
They arrive in the same length of time as the very big dealers.

Exactly. By this logic, a whole lot of small dealers would be out of business

Wouldn't surprise me if that happens...
These "shortages" might just allow mfrs to rearrange their dealer body without much legal mess and fuss.

Right, it makes no sense with all the acronyms I see thrown around here about retail orders being given priority. BUT, that is exactly what happened, March 25th to be exact. I called FoMoCo, received a VIN, and a Build Date, after giving Order Date, Number, Body Code, Name, Phone, Dealer Code, email etc. Looked up the VIN, it was for a Bronco (not a sport), ordered 1/19, not 12/13. Confused..... I called back, provided the info again and the response was it's in Order Processing, I don't know why they gave that info to you. I asked why are orders after mine, some months, with like content, being scheduled, built, and in some cases delivered? Then came the snarky, "Well, you're at a small dealer". And no, I didn't lose my cool, often trying to establish common ground as a Motor Company Retiree, understanding it has to be hard handling the calls from frustrated customers when it is something out of their control.

However, and granted this is a non scientific poll, but small dealers seem to be getting their orders just as fast if not faster than medium and large dealers. It seems the "average" turn around time is 4 months currently from order to delivery (and thats not just from this poll but posts on just about every thread on this forum) but that of course varies, as to why, thats a great question, but dealer size in and of itself does not seem to be the main factor.

Understood, there have been a lot of fortunate people on here as far as order to delivery, some darn lucky. There have been and still are a few outliers though. Next Wednesday will be 4 months - with no Vin or Build Date to date. Not losing my cool, just along for the ride, providing data along the way.

The good news is there's light at the end of the tunnel at least for chip supply.
https://techhq.com/2022/03/has-the-global-chip-shortage-turned-into-an-oversupply-crisis/
Thats good news...however the Russia/Ukraine situation could keep that in check. Both are major producers of Neon and Helium which are needed to produce modern chips. So having the foundries back online or expanding capacity is great...but if they can't get the stuff needed to make them we're still stuck at square one...also keep an eye on China's interest in Taiwan...the next 6 months will be interesting.

For those who have not been able to vote and view the poll, here is where we're at so far:
Ford Bronco Sport A Poll for Science - How big of a role does dealer size play in delivery time? Screenshot_20220405-091035_Chrom

Trends are currently skewed because it seems like more folks ordered from small dealerships. Sample size needs to increase if we're to make any reasonable assumptions.

Hi folks. I'm an ecologist by trade, so naturally I have to question the Bronco Sport ordering process just as I would anything else - With the scientific method! This is a poll to find out how much influence the size of a dealership plays in custom ordered Bronco Sport manufacturing and delivery time. Please answer this poll if you have custom ordered a Bronco Sport and have already recieved your order.

For the purposes of this poll, dealership size may be slightly subjective. "Large" dealerships refer to dealerships who recieve a high amount of volume and may be located in major cities or metropolitan areas. "Medium" dealerships refer to those who may be in towns with a population base around 100,000 people and receive a medium amount of volume. "Small" dealerships are just that - The Ford dealerships operating in small towns whose customers are primarily those in just that area who may not recieve and sell as many vehicles as medium or large dealerships.

The average Bronco Sport order fulfillment time seems to take anywhere from 3 to 9 months. I have used 4 months as a median timeline. Anything less than 4 months is considered to be a speedy delivery, anything more than 4 months may be slower than average. The factors contributing to delivery speed are numerous (and possibly unknown), so a large sample size from this poll may help to clarify the role of dealership size/allocation related to order fulfillment.

Thank you for your contribution to science!
Hi There!
I first ordered with a small local dealer ... bad! No action. I cancelled and went to a large dealership. They had already ordered certain models/packages/colours on their own behalf, knowing they sell like hotcakes... and could offer me exactly what I wanted ... so the car was already in the works and arrived in less than 2 month.
I guess a larger dealership has more options in this case.
