Too bad breakdown happened and you have my sympathies, but "you ain't the first".

Bought a new Saturn VUE and it started "rattling" at idle shortly after. Dealer couldn't find problem. I finally figured out how to duplicate problem and took it in. Dealer kept it for trouble shooting/repair, and gave me a used car off the lot for a "loaner".
After a month in the shop dealer asked for loaner back and put me in a "s--tbox" rental car which wouldn't hold me, wife, and some groceries at the same time. After I complained, they upgraded my rental which I had for two months while they tore the engine down.

The third month they stumbled on the defect by accident and fixed the car. When I got it back it turned out to be one of the best vehicles I've ever owned (27 of them), and the dealer was in my opinion excellent -- couldn't have asked them for more.

The reliability of the Saturn and the dealer's service departments were probably why GM killed the Saturn division -- no money to be made when people love and keep the cars for a long time.

End of saga; if the dealer is working to take care of you give 'em a chance, your BS may turn out to be one of the best cars you'll ever own.

In all seriousness. Had a guy in the ie park his lemon in front of a dealer and protested for weeks. Could work
That happened at the Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer I worked at. Customer had a Sunfire that blew an engine at a little over 2 years and 50,000km. Turns out they never changed the oil once. Tried to get GM to help, they asked for receipts which the customer could not provide. The service manager asked for anything, even a cooking oil receipt (in jest). Customer said "Nope, don't have any". So they then parked the car up the road from the dealership, put signs up with lemons all over them stating that neither the dealer nor GM would assist them. Media got involved, did a big story ok the guy. Ended up having to retract the story when it was discovered that they did zero maintenance on the car.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. In a situation such as this one or any repair under warranty. Do you have to take the car back to the dealer you bought it from or can you take to a Ford dealer of your choice?

Lemon law kicks in after multiple shop visits and total days in the shop. A failed engine is not a automatic "lemon". It's man made, anything can happen. The rental thing, I would be happy to just have one provided. Consumers have such high expectations, stuff happens.

Any dealer can handle warranty work, doesn't mean they will or like to though.

You can take it to any Ford dealer for warranty work.

In Florida (and perhaps other states?) a lemon law cannot be entered unless the dealership fails 3 times to correct the same issue.
