2021 Base. It started to jerk when accelerating at all speeds 1 week ago.

Took to the dealership and they said the torque converter is the problem.

Luckily still under the powertrain warranty.

Transmission should have lasted a lot longer. Paperwork says wrong PCM software.
Yep should of lasted longer

And says: “transmission fluid is dark and burnt also is venting out of the top of transmission vent”

51,435 kilometers=31,960 miles which at 30k is right where many owners on this forum recommend drain and refilling transmission fluid

By lucky I only meant was that you have the extended warranty

It is covered under the 5 years powertrain warranty.

Dang it I hate reading that. Glad you have the warranty though.
idk how my dealer did it but for my 30k service (done at 27k due to upcoming roadtrip) I inquired about a transmission drain and fill.
they stated it would be 280.00. Called it a light transmission service. When I came back to pick up they said they got it covered for me and I didn’t pay a dime.
hopefully that service helped me more than I realized in the moment.

To be clear the transmission and a torque convertor work together but are 2 separate units. One unit can take out the other though. So did the dealership say the torque convertor or the transmission failed?

The work order mentions torque converter shudder. How has the vehicle been in the highway? Have you experienced the tachometer jumping around 100 rpm every second when driving at highway speeds?

I dropped it off today for them to tear it down and they said they were going to look to see if it can be rebuilt or if it's more economical for them to replace the transmission.

On the highway and city streets it was ok. The only time I really noticed it jerking was if I had to hit the gas to accelerate to pass someone.

The RPM's never varied driving ot idling.

So torque convertor or transmission or both? Either way while not good at least you said it was covered under powertrain warranty.

How long do you plan on keeping your Bronco Sport? I would think replacing (I am assuming remanufactured) the transmission would be better for the long term. You might want to advocate for a replacement.

From AI search:
A remanufactured transmission is fully restored to OEM specs with all wearable parts replaced, tested on a dynamometer, offering higher quality, reliability, and longer warranties; a rebuilttransmission involves repairing only failed components (often reusing old parts), making it cheaper upfront but less reliable, with shorter warranties, essentially a "patch" compared to a full factory restoration. Choose remanufactured for long-term value/reliability, and rebuilt for lower initial cost.

From what I can tell online the Ford warranty on remanufactured transmissions is 3 years vs 2 years for dealer rebuilding the transmission.

Most torque converter shudder issues with 8F35 transmissions are from fluid degradation issues.
