I wanted sync 4 so bad when I got the BS. I thought it was dumb that a new cars coming out had sync 4 while the BS, a brand new series release, was launching with sync 3.

I use android auto a lot and it was really tiresome plugging in my phone all the time, especially with how buggy sync 3 wireless features are. The sync 3 will sometimes just not connect to the phone unless I plug it in.

Last month I bought this carlink 5.0 for black Friday and it's been great. It's not perfect. Takes a minute to connect, but I don't need to plug in my phone anymore!

If I didn't find this fix I think I'd consider doing a trade in just to get sync 4, and what I assume will finally be the hybrid release.

I like using the night view all the time with my Nav screen.. I'd probably do the same with that screen.
Wait! What? There is a dark screen option. On my recent trip to Memphis I tossed a t-shirt over the screen at night to eliminate the bright screen. Oh man.

Dude! Thanks! I learned something new today. I just went out and tested it and with one push the screen shows the time and with a second push the screen goes dark. Very cool and much appreciated!

There's also a setting for "night mode," which is similar to the dark theme that's become popular for hand-held devices. The setting is available by selecting Settings > Display > Mode. If you don't see the Display setting on your settings screen just swipe left or right.

I went that way. Stays in night mode.

The trend toward bigger and bigger and bigger center screens in vehicles I don't care for. Esp if I have to click around for something that should be simple knob or button...

The touch-based controls I agree with. The larger screen, in general, I like. In my mind, having a large-format map pretty much right in your face makes it easier to see, which means less time looking at the screen instead of the road.

Did you dare to push it... a 3rd time?

There are also a few screen background options buried in the settings. I assume all of us have the same options, not trim dependent. This is one option.

:sunglasses: Third push goes back to normal screen. When I first bought my BS, I played with the settings a bit but grew weary quickly. There are so many different ways to configure things.

I'm a very tactile person and would hate to lose the physical buttons. I've actively avoided other new cars because of this problem. Fingers crossed the giant screen is only for testing purposes.

I can appreciate all the rational arguments here. I really can. But lets face it. It will not be long before the VAST majority (if not all) dashboards resemble iphones and samsung galaxies. Software is so hardened today, compared to just 10 years ago even. You can thank the vast onslaught of black hat hackers and ransomwear purveyors for that as software companies have had to increase security budgets by tenfolds in order to stay afloat. Not saying that software doesnt get it wrong sometimes. It most definitely does. Just ask any devops team at a software company. I'm just saying it makes dollars-sense in manufacturing, to put all the controls under one umbrella. (Not to mention, that it seems to be what the 39 and under generation [aka not me] seem to want as most peoples lives nowadays seem to REVOLVE around that shiny screen in their pocket).

Looks interesting. I also noticed that the gauge cluster will be updated and a new feature on the outside is added with those side-view cameras on the mirrors. Same goes for the Maverick. Although no interior shots of the Maverick, I can safely say that if the B.S. gets the new wide Sync 4 screen, than the Maverick will get it as well. I'm sure it will be a love-hate relationship on that forum since you have one side that wants a bigger and wider screen (in an effort to get rid of the useless side cubby) but you have the other side that wants to keep things simple and not integrate everything into a screen. For me personally, I don't mind the 8-inch screen in both vehicles. It gets the job done, it's not too distracting, it doesn't rob visibility, and it's mixed with a generous amount of physical controls which is what matters most. Also, the graphics aren't half bad, at least on Sync 3. The older system on lesser trims is definitely showing its age. It's like a flashback to 2015! ?
