2021 Bronco Sport Outer Banks, 25,000 miles, never ran hard or off road. I was getting ready to take it to the dealership for annual oil change and noticed the coolant AND oil level was very low, oil very dirty... Nothing on the floor. I always check it after an oil change to make sure it was done correctly so no, they didn't short me on oil and coolant. I'm reading a lot about this problem from YouTube videos, many saying not only the water pumps are failing but the turbo and head gasket as well. Thinking of selling before I'm sitting on the side of the road. I have the extended warranty so that really helps, just expected more from Ford. I wanted a big Bronco but hearing bad things about them as well. Not sure of my next truck, wanted to stay with Ford. :frown:

Tom, Are you saying the last time you checked your oil and coolant was after the last oil change (one year ago). If so it’s possible water pump failure caused overheating and over time, damage to motor.

I always check the oil and other fluids before and after each oil change, the oil and other fluids were correctly done each time.
Overheating has never been a problem, I'm saying the oil and coolant was very low for the first time before my scheduled oil change, something is very wrong with my engine...

The proper way to check your oil level:

Warm your engine up to operating temperature. Temperature gauge should be in the middle. Turn engine off. Leave the engine off and parked on level ground for 15 minutes.

Pull the oil dipstick out and wipe it clean. Insert the dipstick back in all the way. Pull the dipstick back out and observe the oil level on the dipstick.

Correct, good point. I always do that, I was a mechanic in the late 1970's
Is it leaking or burning oil? And if the coolant loss was into the oil the oil level would be high not low.

An annual fluid check is just wild to me. I'd like to say it's a 30 day item, but for sure every 60 at least and before a longer or overnight trip.

Agreed, I was taught to check the oil level regularly between oil changes.

My 2009 Dodge Caravan consumed about a liter of oil for every 5 to 6,000 kms driven but by topping up regularly I was able to squeeze 200,000 kms out of that V6 !

Cheers

Not driven much to require 30- to 60-day fluid checks, it sits in the garage most of the time.

If you want something that will function without endless electrical issues, stay away from the F-150. Extremely poor design and prone to constant issues with the poor charging system.

Thanks, I've heard bad things about the F-150, seems all new US trucks can't hold a candle to the Toyota Tacoma / Tundra- sorry to say...

Anything post-2020 sucks in general. If & when I replace the BS, I'm going back to something I can wrench top to bottom. Find me a nice '81 Land Cruiser, or late '80's Toyota p/u (pre-"Tacoma"), and I'll be good.
