So correct me if im missing something ... but dropping down a 16 in rim according to this calculator would allow for 235 70s.. ? If thats the case it opens up a huge selection of tires.

The 16in rims should fit fine with a similar offset (37.5 OEM, so 35-40). Ive been looking at 235/75r16s, these look so much more aggressive and meaty than OEM Falkens. OD on these would be just under 30, so a full inch greater than OEM but rubbing should be minimal to none. 235/70r16 would fit fine, same OD as the OEM Falkens

I was going to try the Toyo Open Country, but got a good deal on BFG KO2s in 235/70R16. Been very happy with them, pretty quiet, tons of grip, not too heavy.

Have you posted a pic with the 16's? Would love to see how it looks. I'm looking to purchase another set of wheels dedicated for some aggressive tires for my "overlanding" trips

I was just about to ask if anyone had tried 16" wheels yet, when I decided to do a search and found this thread. The Tire Rack shows several 16" wheels that fit. The Motegi MR143 CS6, looks good to me, at 16x7 +40 and 18 lbs. I'm still questioning what the largest tire diameter is that will fit a Badlands without modifying the pinch weld and fender liner and/or requiring a lift. I was also hoping to up the selection of good AT tire choices. The Motegi in combination with the 235/75/16 Cooper AT3 4S at 33 lbs and a 29.7" diameter, makes for a light (?) 51 lbs combination.

I will probably do a lift but don't want to have to do one and I certainly don't want to trim the pinch weld. If I decide to stay with 17's, I'd probably go with the Motegi MR136 and a 235/70/17 and that combo ups the tire diameter to 30" with a weight combo of 59 lbs. , I think.

Yeah, 50w panel on a hood vinyl. Keeps the battery topped up nicely.
