It's the wife's baby Bronco. We're in our low 50s, empty nesters, and "Blucifer" replaced a 2010 Prius. We had been checking out the Escape PHEV (hate the styling of the RAV4 Prime, so we went across the street to the Ford dealer), but she saw the Bronco Sport and was intrigued. About ten days...
I dig it and had a total score as an REI "garage sale" find. Right now I just have the base and bike attachment, but plan on eventually adding the upper deck and a cargo box. Just waiting for Yakima to re-open their pro purchase program (I'm in the outdoor industry).
I can't think of any...
It's mostly in the labor costs that one incurrs. I've installed a number of hitches and aftermarket wiring harnesses, but I wanted the Ford unit with the sway control, etc. I took a look at the installation instructions for it and felt that it was a bit above my skillset. Plus, it's my wife's...
Also the $640 cost of equipping it from the factory is far cheaper (and better integrated) than having it done at the dealer after the fact. Ask me how I know. Granted we bought our BS OB off the lot, but I definitely would have sprung for the tow package had we special ordered ours.
Our hitch...
Well, I am just a tick shorter than you (6' 1.5") and haven't had an issue in the S2k, or the NA Miatas I owned prior to it. Maybe your torso is longer than mine. I'm all legs.
Super fun car, I adore it.
Yep, I get it. And buying from your dealer likely ensures prompt and proper deliveries. It's a crapshoot when ordering from Ford's accessory store. At least that has been my experience.
Well, in this case the MSRP is the same $79 from Lakeland or Ford direct, and I'll save about $8 using the 20% off coupon from Ford. Mostly because Ford's shipping rates are lower.

But Lakeland and Tasca Parts will be options for me on down the line.

Saw this over on the Maverick forum, did a search and noticed that nobody shared it over here, but use this code for 20% off your order at accessories.ford.com until Feb 12 (and 15% off until Feb 28).

More Bronco Sport accolades, this time from Car & Driver, this time and Editors' Choice award.

6'2" here with 34" inseam and an "athletic build," I find the Bronco Sport OB seats to be quite comfortable, so some very long slogs behind the wheel over the holidays were no issue.
But everyone is different.
