This thread made me leave my coffee and my Lazy Boy and go check mine. It sticks up.
I know this is the right thread to ask a question I've wondered about for decades. Is anal retentive supposed to be hyphenated? LOL
Nice work!
When I worked for the Forest Service, and budgets got tight, they'd always lay off the people at the bottom. You know, the ones who clean the campgrounds and toilets. Hopefully, they're doing the opposite now, and laying off the people at the top.
I don't know about the other models. I've read that a lift doesn't help you fit taller tires, because that isn't where the rub is. Most folks go for the wider tires (for looks, I think), so there aren't a lot of people with taller tires.
They now make a clear windshield "tint" that blocks infrared rays. I sat in my car for a demonstration where the guy held it over the window and put an infrared heater a few inches away. The difference was amazing.
I suffer from skin cancer, so I'm always looking for better solutions to...
I put a 235/70 R17 in my spare space (with all padding out). It sticks up a bit, but it is workable. To me it is worth the trouble for 1/2" more clearance and a smoother ride. My Falken Wildpeak 235s have performed well for me in mud, snow, and sand.
A 245/65 R17 is a wider tire, which is...
Mine was creaking on bumps. I took it in to where I had the lift installed. They raised it up to look and didn't find anything. After letting it down, the sound has disappeared.
I was impressed with the glove box design. It has latches on the edges instead of the center. You can have a piece of paper sticking up in the center, and it will still close. Wish they all worked that way.
Holding the bottom of the steering wheel, move the wheel the way you want the trailer to go, when backing up. Small movements of the steering wheel are best.
My BS Badlands has a towing capacity of 2200 lbs. and a payload capacity of 1010 lbs. That 1010 lbs. includes passengers. But what...
My wife has a friend who drives with her left foot on the brake all the time. You'll see their brake lights on all the time. My wife continues accelerating towards a red light until the last minute. She wears out break pads much sooner than I do.
The 6.0 L diesels in the Superdutys had trouble with sand in the cooling system. Clogged oil cooler and caused failure. Bullet Proof Diesel sells a cooling system bypass filter to filter out that stuff. I tore apart the first filter on mine and it was full of a kind of white sludge.
Mark is right. I aired down my KO2's on my Jeep Liberty and cut a sidewall on a rocky road. But if you're just driving in sand, or are already stuck, it works vey well. I got the 235/65 R17 tires as an option, and my next set will be 235/70R17.
That extra sidewall makes a big difference in...
There is a hill where I hunt that was easy when my Falken ATW3's were new, but tougher now that they have 37,000 miles on them. I'll be putting new tires on before my next hunt.
I replaced mine at 33,000 and it was black. I'm not sure why, I haven't driven through any coal mines. After seeing mine, I might be changing it more often.
I always figured cabin air filters were just a scam for the dealerships to screw people. But If you replace it yourself it takes 3...
I have a Viair pump, and it takes less time to pump up the tires than to deflate them. Lowering tire pressure makes a huge difference on rough roads too. That is another reason I like higher profile tires. My buddy's new truck came with low profile tires, and it rides much rougher than his...
When you got stuck, did you try lowering your tire pressure? It makes a big difference in sand. I got stuck on the beach in Mexico years ago. Some 2x8 by 4' boards worked fine, but the Hi-Lift jack is what gets you on top of the boards.
Apparently, AI is going to take tremendous amounts of power. So much power, that they are trying to restart 3 mile island. Nuclear power is the real solution.
I hate to admit it, but France is way ahead of the US. They get almost 70% of their power from nuclear. The new designs are...
If you're going to do even moderate off roading, you'll need to add skid plates on the Badlands too.
The Evap has a small skid plate, but the gas lines leading to it don't. I ripped the carpet off the driver's side the first time I took it off-road. The catalytic converter is in the center...
It is kind of inconvenient to have to carry gas and a generator to charge up your EV while off roading. Until they have much better range than now, they won't work for me. I'd buy one for around town, if I had the money to burn.
I can't wait to have rolling blackouts like California has...
