Peaty on Scoobymods forum developed a DYI light kit for the Subaru Forester. I followed his instructions and put one in my wife's old Forester. Worked well. Take a look at that and see if it can be retrofitted to the BS.
My Escape Hybrid makes similar sounds when the door is opened. I understand that it is some kind of pump that pressurizes the brakes. The sounds on my BS sounded similar so I thought that Ford was using a similar system on the BS.
I just had U-haul install a trailer hitch on mine. It was under $300 with no wiring. They used the Curt trailer hitch which seems to be industry standard. If you have Ford Points, you can get the Ford wiring harness and do it yourself.
Knowing the top speed capability of any car is a big mistake. When I bought my second car, a 1974 Triumph TR-6, the owner's manual said that it would do 123 mph. I tried for hours to get mine to do that and it would never go over 118 mph. Then my insurance company told me that I would be...
I am a big fan of Waze. It displays the current speed limit and whether I am exceeding that speed, it announces speed cameras, and it gives alternate routing when traffic is slow or stopped.
I call those with 10-15 watts trickle chargers because they only have enough power to maintain a charge and not to recharge a battery. If you get one of those and have a few overcast days, you will have a dead battery. I tried one to keep my plane battery charged before I got a hangar and it...
I think that solar is what you want, but the trickle chargers often do not have enough power to keep it charged. Frankly, I would get one of the those folding solar panels with at least 50 watt capability and leave it in the vehicle facing the front window. You want a panel with high watts so...
I had U-haul install the trailer hook on my BS. They used the Curt and installation price was the best I could find. I did not do the wiring because I just wanted it to transport my bike to some local parks.
I did winter camping for the Ham Radio Winterfest event. It was 20 degrees F. I stuck a few of the battery operated hand warmers in the sleeping bag and that helped a lot. It did nothing for the noise from the gaggle of geese landing in the lake, the trains that came through a few times...
I make two camping trips a year: Sun N Fun at Lakeland, FL and Airventure at Oshkosh, WI. I stay over a week at each location. Last year, I made the mistake of using a folding cooler. The ice melted and water ran all over the inside of the tent. This year, I will use an Apicool solar...
Does the BS have the swollen lug nut problem of other Fords? I know that removing the lug nuts from my 2013 Ford Escape for a brake job was a major issue. You are supposed to use a 19mm to remove those lug nuts but I sometimes had to resort to a 20mm or 21mm socket to get the old ones off and...
I just reduced air pressure on my tires to 34 PSI with a digital measure. TPMS shows 34PSI on right side and 33 PSI on left side. So its pretty accurate.
I did not receive a manual case for my owner's manual with my 2023 BS. Was I supposed to? If not, this is the only car that I have had that did not come with one. My wife was pointing out how nice her case was for her 2021 Subaru Forester.
