no flat towing …

Flat Towing Behind a Motor Home: No.
Body Panel Durability in High Heat: Yes, the body panels are expected to hold up in direct sunlight and 105+ degree temperatures.
So they dont plan on selling any of these in the Southwest then.

Edit: Hell, at that 150 mile range, it was a longshot anyways.

Let's be real: these are intended for coastal urban/performative virtue types that think a monthly trip to Lowe's for a bag of mulch justifies a truck.

We need more American made vehicles and American own manufacturing in the US. I placed my Reservation April 2025 for a Slate truck

Sadly I canceled my reservation today. I really want Slate to make it but I think they’re going to be DOA, assuming they arrive. So many missing details still. I couldn’t justify the $300 non refundable deposit with so many loose ends. It’s really hard to start from nothing and come in at a low price point but that’s what they promised. What I had spec’ed was going to be right around 30k with me installing all accessories beyond the base model including the wrap. A lot of the accessories still have no price associated with them too. That and there's still not a clear plan they've shared for how you get service other than them providing YouTube videos and a kiss on the cheek.

Too bad I really want them to make it but I’m very skeptical at this point.

Even if I were totally sold on the Slate, I'd still be content to wait a year or so to see how it actually shakes out. I spent too much of my life as an early adopter, and it's never gotten me anything I couldn't have gotten later, and has often gotten me things that I regretted getting into.

You speak the truth, I've sworn to never buy model year one of anything ever again. Every brand will have some issues that get worked out in subsequent model years. A new model, new factory, new everything is asking for trouble.

It worked out for me with the Bronco Sport too. I originally had an order in 2021 that kept getting pushed and pushed. Once it was built it was parked in the Sonoran Desert for months waiting for some key chips. I bailed out on that and bought a used Crosstrek. When I did finally decide to make the move into a Bronco Sport the Sasquatch model was available with a lot of the things I would have added aftermarket from the factory. I even got some incentive pricing on it.

And you got the best color, too. ;)

#metoo

The experience was often..."Whoa, didn't expect that"...
Or, by the time it arrived (looking at you, Kickstarter), the tech was already OBE.
