We're planning a long trip soon. Since anything can happen on the road, we would really appreciate some insights from those of you who have spent more time traveling.

We are interested in anything regarding maintenance and simple tips that improve the overall experience. Is there a specific piece of advice you wish you had known before you started taking longer trips?

To help with the drive, we’ve added the Wolfbox G900 Pro to our setup for better rear visibility. It acts as both a dash cam and a backup camera to monitor blind spots at the back of the car.

Many disagree, but my advice is learn to use and love all of your adaptive cruise control features on the highway and mountain roads. I find it makes driving much more relaxing and less stressful.

Are you planning on any unpaved roads?

We two just did a 2000 mile west coast tour. There are a bunch of BS out there at the rest stops.

Get a few seat cushions and rotate them. Use the seat memory buttons for different positions.

Reset the Trip monitor in your driveway. I didn't remember to this until 5 miles rolling.

I got a roof rack and some outer bags that fit it. The BS gets smaller as you drive.

Use navigation - if just for the police warnings. Cruise control too.

Get a good cooler that fits and keeps ice cold.

SerriusXM drops out a bunch on the road. Maybe put some recordings on your phone and use a player for entertainment. The news channels are good, but they don't fill much time with new stories. I now believe in unlimited streaming on your phone. You can get it just for the trip or always.

Get waze on your phone.

Keep your hiking boots and trekking sticks handy and enjoy a hike along the way. Alltrails will guide you.

Dont eat at too many diners or even brewpubs. Fresh food will help you feel better. Drink extra water.

This comment is to the dashcam/rearview cam Wolfbox g 900pro comment. I now think it may have been a placed add for my enjoyment. Anyway. To the rearview cam people: ... Do you have a BS installation video to show us exactly how it installs and looks on a Bronco Sport?

I have tried a few dashcams and have so far been unimpressed with the end result.

If you want to send me one, I'll make the video of the whole process.

Buy a cr2450 battery for your key fob lol. You can still start by putting fob In special spot but an annoying situation when on a long trip

Good advice. Over the years. In different vehicles, this eventually pops up at the most insane times.

I would add to bring the extra fob in case one person takes the car on a running morning and locks the fob inside.......Otherwise make sure your ford app can lock and unlock your BS remotely. (Mine does)

BTW, since reading this, I added those batteries to tomorrow's Amazon delivery.

I have taken many long trips, but I had two incidents: I have a truck with a camper shell. The glass in one of the windows broke. I used duct tape for a temporary repair; bring duct tape.
I was having an issue trying to use my credit card to buy gas. I called about the credit card, and the rep accidently canceled my credit card. Luckily, I had a second credit card: carry more than one credit card plus some cash.
