Ford Bronco goes EV and EREV in China - with lidar - MIIT July

The Ford Bronco is made in China by Jiangling (JMC) -Ford. Until now, it was an ICE-only car. But no more.

Soon, Ford will add two new versions to the Bronco line-up: an EV and an EREV.

The EV gets an AWD power train with a 130 kW motor at the front and a 202 kW motor at the rear. The top speed is 170 km/h. The LFP Blade battery is sourced from BYD Findreams. It has a 650-kilometer range.

The EREV gets a 110 kW 1.5 turbo liter range extender + two electric motors: 130 kW front and 180 kW rear. The LFP battery comes from BYD Findreams again. EV range is 220 km and combined range is 1220 km. The top speed is also 170 km/h.

The MIIT photos also show a new ADAS, with a lidar above the windscreen and sensors at the front fenders. The Ford Bronco EV and EREV will launch in China later this year.

Very Ford Edge-esk.

Which makes sense... they still sell the Ford Edge over in China, and something like an off-road EV would be a good fit for the Chinese market.

Because it would look weird if they strapped a can of sealant and an inflator to the back of the BS.
I opened a cold one to you today! Thanks for the laugh.

I would welcome the return of Cyber Orange, but I don’t care for the look of that EV with its more squared off look. The current Bronco Sport looks much better.

Ford, please, don’t mess this up.

At first glance, that spare tire mount with Bronco in the center looks exactly like a blacked out Nissan logo. Just sayin'.

Took a Bronco Sport, added in a few Bronco features, and managed to make it look terrible. YMMV.

Btw, welcome to the other Bronco forum, @RagnarKon! I enjoy your posts over at Bronco6g, hope you enjoy your stay here.

I like the idea, but I hate the execution here... I hope this isn't the design that the next generation of sports go for. The swing out tailgate could be nice. And I'm all for a plug in hybrid option. But I really dislike this styling. It takes what looks good on the sport currently and removes all of the styling details that make it work. The end result just looks bad to me...

With all that said, is it just me, it does this look like a lot longer wheelbase?

whole different hatch, its a swig out instead of a lift. are we sure this is a bronco sport and not a full sized?
Headline says "Ford Bronco goes EV and EREV in China..." doesn't say Bronco Sport... I bet you are right. The word "sport" isn't in there at all.

it sure looks like a sport body though. and I can't see them releasing a full size in China with the direction to be small and fuel efficient.

there are some things I like and some I hate, the swing out tailgate is one I hate, I prefer the lift back take less space to open it and your not limited to one side.

Damn this would be an amazing next gen for the Sport…

too bad China gets all the tech and cool stuff these days, while we are left with plasticity interiors and old stuff….I miss the old times.
