I just checked and it turns on automatically after you turn the car off, much like the auto start stop. So it seems as though it’s meant to be on. 🤷🏻

I’m just a guy, so take this with a grain of salt, but I’d be willing to bet your battery isn’t handling those colder temps to well and the voltage drop upon start up (also with thicker viscosity from those temps I would assume requires more battery load) causing the computer to be like whoa...
