IMHO, no, you are not. Disclaimer: I'm not a car guy. I don't view it as mechanical issue. I rather see it as part of sale transaction - if I paid for it then they must deliver it. If it's cosmetic indeed then let me decide if I want it or not, and reduce the price if I choose not to get it.
A good dealer, and a lot of them are not good, would help the customer get the missing part. Even though it is cosmetic if a customer is complaining about the missing piece of plastic dealer should get off their butt and get the issue resolved.

I think a lot of solid points were made...one...a test drive is a great solution? particularly if it's from the same dealership. Two, yeah it's customer service and should be made right. The escape cover is the same one. I guarantee they have those parts in their inventory. Just do it already instead of trying to work around a $50 part. The dealers are being asses. Why Ford stopped putting them on some and kept them on others ...had x number on site during build, when they ran out, the next x didn't get one.

When my '88 Mustang 5.0 was new the coolant temp would rise at stop lights then go back down when moving. Had a couple buddies same car theirs did not do that. Took to dealer they said it was within specs not going to fix anything. So I ordered a new Ford OEM fan clutch for $80 or whatever it cost. Here we are decades later problem still solved. I would have never won that fight with the dealer over that one. I also fixed several things wrong with the car myself because it was easier faster then dealing with the service idiots.

This reminds me. I checked etis.ford.com and it says mine has "less engine cover" too. I have a feeling my dealer is going to see that in an oasis report and and give me an SOL on this. Though. It does say "under hood" I wonder what etis/oasis calls a hood blanket.
Wow, that's really interesting. I found the etis website and I managed to get PTI (?) on my vehicle. How do I see a full report like this? Is there also a way to see the entire window sticker? I got the peel-off portion of mine, but the frame that has the shipping and blend numbers was tossed.

Also see yours was built "Less Gear Shift Knob". So how do you drive it?

And that doesn't tell you that maybe ford is a company you don't want to deal with? You fixed something for $80 that ford said was just fine?

Dealer said they were not going to fix it. Yes I could have started world war 3 and fought them to get them to fix it. I chose to buy part fix it myself. Not much money and about 15 minutes to bolt part on. My choice. Not much more to it then that.
