2021 Outer Banks I had the same thing happen but in addition the turbo charger was bad. First they only replaced the turbo till I had exhaust fumes also. When I called about fumes they said they knew what it was and then replaced the cat, in stock. I had felt excessive heat coming out of the dash and floor and I read that could have been dangerous as it was the cat burning out. As I've read on here both should have been replaced at the same time. Even with the message on my Ford pass and dash, turbo boost under powered, they had me bring it back 5 times over 4 months before they replaced it and it was under warranty as was the cat. Eventually I took pictures of the dash messages and Ford Pass message and produced a binder of pictures, dates and times, till they finally changed it all out. My warranty ends in March and I felt they were trying to put off the replacement. Poor service as when the turbo was to kick in I would lose power from 70mph to 48 on a interstate as well as the heat from the cat burning out could have caught fire. . Very dangerous for me.

did they replace yours under warenty or the special program. from what the sales man told me yesterday this whole campain is because a couple of the batches of cats came from a different supplyer and they having cracking issues with thoes ones.

he said it was only 2023 and late 2022 that have the program so it would be neet to know if anyone outside thoes dates have the recall on their cars also so I know if he was feeding me a line on that.

all fixed, 5 parts involved, the cat, a bolt a nut (thoes might be kits) and two clamps. I am surprised to not see gaskets on the list. but the car is silent again and no exhaust smell.

All replaced under warranty

I am waiting to see if it happens again and if it is covered. technicly mine should be covered by my extended warenty but they said the recal covered it. so now that program doesnt aply to me as it was one free repair over the next 10 years type thing, but I still have full warenty coverage.

For a dealer to stock anything, it must be very common.
ya that service program has been out for quite a while now in canada I think it was 3 or 4 months ago it showed up in my ford pass app

how long ago was the first replacment? they were supsed to replace them with upgraded parts, unless this was before the program and they just replaced it with the same defective part

It was replaced back in April 2024. I did see there’s a customer satisfaction program regarding this issue. I will contact the dealership and see what they say. Thanks for letting me know!

it is, this is the third or fourth cracked converter I've heard of on the forum. like stircrazy mentioned, ford recently put out a service notice to the 1.5L owners.
acording to the service advisers it was only 1.5s built with the cats from a certian manufacturer also, so spicific units.
