Did you get much rain yesterday where you live?
We’ve been in Alaska
They got over 1.6" yesterday at the airport, and encountered a ground stop for several hours. The south east valley got the most, west valley to the least, but well over 1" many places.

According to the NWS, Phoenix got the most rain in a single day in 7 years on Friday

The first picture is of my street and the retention basin on our community after the storm. The second is looking over my back wall as the storm rolled in.

What Don said. :)

My pool gained about 1.5” to just under the edge tiles, so yeah, it was a lot.

The entire Valley was under flash flood warnings all day.

I’m in Glendale, there’s been a lot of work over the last several years upgrading the storm drains, and it shows. Water will rise over the sidewalks as per usual, but it’s gone in just a few minutes once the rain passes. You don’t have to wait an hour to go out again any more.

It looks like we’re getting a real-life “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert“ this weekend. Another inch and a half or so in the Valley expected.

For those not from ‘round here, our average annual rainfall is around 7-8”. The land here just ain’t built for it.

Back in the early 2000's I did some splicing work N/W of Lake Pleasant out N Old Castle Road as a contractor.

Out in the boonie's and in August. I played out there during a couple of monsoons. Dry washes become rivers in a matter of minutes.

There are people who live in areas out there who use the washes as roads to their houses, except when it rains. They live the life of solitude but have risks doing so.

I moved here in 1977. That winter season we had 2 "100 year" floods and one "500 year" flood all within about 3 months. Back in those days, there was only TWO bridges across the usually dry Salt River. They would build approaches into and out of the river beds and they'd pave a road across the dry river bed. When it rained, it was inconvenient, but mostly passable. Then the floods came, and it would wash all of these river crossings away, paralyzing the "Valley of the Sun".

Thankfully, we're much more ready for storms and flooding these days, and rain is once again, reason to celebrate!

We are heading up to Pinetop-Lakeside today. Looks like foul weather until Tuesday.

Gilbert got 2.5 inches of rain yesterday. We got back from Pinetop before Globe got clobbered and they closed highway 60. My daughters backyard literally was an infinity pool.

Glendale dodged a bullet with this one. Predicted 3” for both storms, ended up being more like 1.5”. Expected an inch or so Saturday/Sunday, got exactly bupkis. Our pool came up to the bottom of the edge tile, so the autofill gets a few days off.

Peoria, as well. It rained frequently throughout the weekend, often pretty hard... don't have an exact measurement, but we got enough to flood our community park/water retention area.

My daughters pool is back just below the tiled deck. Not sure if they have a high level sensor / drain of just drain beneath the tiles. It was easily 3 inches below on Friday.

The parks were all lakes yesterday afternoon. Kids were paddle boarding where the soccer/football field was. They probably all have dissentary tomorrow! The Queen Creek wash is a full blown river today. Was bone dry on Friday.
